I initially took this shot just as a test to see how the lights looked:

Then I realized it looked kinda cool, so I figured I'd keep it. It just got its third favorite, making it the third most-faved shot in my portfolio.

In this thread, share the shots you've taken that you never thought would be that loved but surprised you.

'Cuz ya just never know what'll tickle people's fancy.

Good topic!

Here's mine:

I didn't think that much of it when I entered it, but now has 32 favorites. What are people thinking? :/

Well, I was thinking "that's friggin' hilarious!" when I added it a while ago. ;)

This one shocked me way back when.

Honestly, I don't think it would score anywhere near this now, but even then I was totally flabbergasted by the score, and the number of favorites it got.

The image which should not be mentioed has 9 faves and it, as you know, finsished quite low in voting. That's totally unexpected :-)

Oh, and that nekkid chick with the grinder 30 faves :-) Expected.

Is that a fancy that is being tickled? LOL

This one!

It is currently 4th rated photo. Sure it's kind of funny. But I don't believe it's the funniest of my entries. I wasn't all that impressed with the photo and expected it to fall in my 4.5-4.8 range. Not 5.7+ to rank as my 4th best rated photo.

IMHO, I would not even consider it in the top 10 best entries I've made. *shrug* Guess weirder things have happened.

HAHAAAHAA! Do you have some kind of restraining order on you? :)

this one really shocked me in how well it was accepted. It was taken for the romance challenge while I was going through my divorce. I shot it as a joke as I definitely wasnt feeling romance. I really expected the voters to not be amused by my sick sense of humor.

You'd be surprised. ...well, I guess you said that you were... nevermind.

Anyway, who could not love & laugh at that photo??!

Perhaps it's because I see my dog looking like that every day :-P

way cool post!!! great idea~

i actually wasn't gonna put this in my portfolio because i was afraid that people would think i was exploiting this young boy and his delicate situation by taking a candid of him. It just recieved it's 27th favorite and I have come to the realization that his undeniable strength is truly angelic and that's what shines through most in the photo.

with this one i didn't know if viewers would even be able to tell that those were my legs. i thinks its up to 3 faves now.

this one recieved 10th place in the city challenge. i had something else submitted until literally 2 minutes before the challenge but my dad urged me to submit this one so i did... just to humor him... turned out be a big hit. good call dad :)

By far.

I wouldve never thought this one would score the way it did!

This is also the fifth most viewed photo in the history of DPC :)

Here's the one that suprises me the most.

It was my ninth challenge and kind of shoehorned the title to fit the "Something New Challenge" and didn't know how it would do, if it would get a bunch of DNMC comments. It now has 89 favs and is by far my most viewed and commented on image. I only took one shot and didn't really even look at it for a few days and only used it because my original plan didn't come out the way I wanted it too.

I guess this one puzzles me the most as to its popularity. Maybe he's just ubercool, and people like that. ;>รพ

This shot confuses the heck outta me. I liked it but I thought for SURE the voters would hammer me for the blur and not concider it as the effect I meant it to be. but I was pleasantly surprised almost everyone "got it". Only a couple comments to the contrary and a great score over all. ya learn something new about DPC every day. you guys are one complicated group of individuals. lol (I mean that in a good way. trust me)

This one. Honestly, all I did was point the camera up and take a picture. 1600 ISO and no tripod, no planning at all (although I did take several inside the church). This was in Ottawa and I got home on a Tuesday, looked through my photos and thought yeah this will fit the busy challenge. Got a blue ribbon, 63 favourites and 11,693 views!! It's really not my favourite photo at all.
