A couple of my favorites that were overlooked/underrated:

My favourite of the lot:

I'm pleased with my "splash" result, 25th isn't bad for a novice !!!!

Thanks for the comments. I know the crown of the splash wasn't quite sharp enough, to be fair it was raining very hard and my camera was getting wet so I hurried the shot - big mistake I know - but it's all part of learning I suppose

I truely don't appreciate grasshoppers. Maybe it was the fact that every other show was some insect on a flower, but I gave the 1st place a 6. Second and third were in my top 5, so I can vote properly. My favorite came in 72nd place:

I like the contrast of the focus weather man and the blurred unbrella. Also, great expression.

Another I thought was very powerful:

That one was also one of my favorites.
The colors in the umbrella blur are great.

This one was also one of my faves.
Really liked the solitude it conveyed. But I'm a sucker for umbrella shots (although kinda played out I love Jack Vettriano's Singing Butler painting) but I digress...)

As a shameless self-plug, I scored a personal best on my entry, , also garnering the most comments I've received for a pic as well.

Yep, agree entirely, it's a great shot. I'll never understand why 11 people gave it a "1".

I guess I'm much in line with the final result here. My 3 best were:

This shot had my top score. Great image!!!

I think the fact that it looks highly processed hurt it a bit though. I didn't vote for it until I saw that it had been "certified." ;) Great use of your zoom!

I too rated it much higher than many of the pics that finished above it.

Thanks for the votes!
As far as looking "highly processed" do you mean because of the zoom effect?
This is pretty close to being straight from the cam.
I did add about 5 adjustment layers but they just helped make it pop more and really didn't change the look at all.
It was at night and my wife was backlit by a high pressure sodium light - the reflection off of the wet street is the yellow glow.

And your welcome, Rina.

Here is my only 9+ that hasn't already been mentioned here:

My top 5 looked like this:

10 -

9's - , , ,

Guess I was looking for evidence that rain was actually part of the experience for the photographer.

rswanks,

I had no clue how you did it when I looked at it. Since we don't see the comments during the voting, I couldn't think of a way that that could have come straight from the camera. Maybe the curve/twisting in the zooming is what threw me off. Plus the sharp streaks of light. I just skipped it at first and then came back and saw the verification. Then I gave it the high score it deserves :)

Don't feel bad Scarlet. Mine had a similar theme (not as well executed) and did a whole lot worse than yours. ;-)

Congrats on your PB. Very nice work!
