Anyone have any advice on how to get wrinkles/creases out of a backdrop easily (without ironing)?

THanks

Try throwing it in a dryer with a damp towel

How big/heavy a backdrop? If it's too big, a dryer wouldn't give it room to tumble unless you took it to the laundromat's jumbo dryers...

Have you got something you can roll it on, then stand it in the bathroom and fill the room with shower steam for a bit? I do this often with things I can hang on a hanger.

That just made it worse as it just clumped up... I've got time, I'm just lazy, but I may be ironing. I'll let it sit in a room with a humidifier for awhile and see what happens.

Warm steam works better, I think. Another option, put it under you matress and sleep on it.

oh yeah, try the under mattress thing, that's how i used to press my carpenter's pants to a nice sharp crease (back when I was cool) and it worked well. that was pretty heavy duty fabric so it just might work with your canvas

Steamers are pretty cheap now adays, and then you could steam it while it's hanging up. I think you can get a pretty decent steamer for around 15 or 20 bucks. If it's a backdrop that you use often it would be worth the money for the time savings.

Hang it in the bathroom and take a hot shower.

Or just get a steamer.

Whenever I travel the first thing I do when I get to the hotel is hang my shirts in the bathroom and run the shower, hot only, for a while with the door shut.

Works a treat on shirts, as I hate to iron, and might work great here as well :)

Ahhhh....in the industry I am part of, and bored with, we use steam as well.

But, if the backdrop is properly folded and stored, wrinkles should not be a major issue.

Can you give an example of proper folding and storage?

Basically, you open the backdrop to its full footage on the floor, ground.

Just like a flag, you start off by folding it in half (long ways), and keep folding into halves (long ways) until there is about a 2 or 3 foot width left.

From there you fold the length into thirds until you have a nice little bundle.

Take the bundle and tie around it rope, and/or put it into a properly fitting bag or container for safe keeping. If the bag is too big, and no secureing of the bundle with rope has been done, the bundle will come apart in the bag, and wrinkling will occur.

When you unfold the backdrop, you may have some creasing. But, creases are way easier to steam out than wrinkles.
