Any thoughts? For use on a banner or 2, biz cards, website, etc. yeah, the bird needs a tad more work. Thought about making the bowtie red, or perhaps just gold.

My previous logo/etc was like this on my last (current) biz card.

Why the penguin?

Why not?
Umm...no particular reason I suppose. I shoot weddings, and penguins wear tuxes? Pittsburgh Penguins are the local pro hockey team, so some logo recognition will occur perhaps,and they'll remember me.

Made you think! Might make them think too? Seems almost every photographer uses a film sprocket,camera or iris or something similar as part of their logo - understandably so of course, but i want to be different.

I was doing all black/white, my studio is black and gray with some white - pittsburgh colors are black and gold (pirates, steelers, penguins) and the nickname for downtown pgh is 'golden triangle'...

teh effect i was after was sorta like the printing you see on old safes and stuff from the old west or victorian era, but slightly updated.

this does not reproduce very well on my color laser ( the gold is barely visible). How it'd look on a banner and biz cards, etc, is still a question.

I definitely like the penguin. With the tux it is distinguished looking but with the way it is drawn, it doesn't look too stuffy - good balance I think!

Bump for the day crowd...

Does the logo look professional or amateur? (based on family feedback, but their biased)

The first one makes my eyes go slightly funny - I think it's the 3d effect.

How about using a stroked path for the penguin, rather than a 'sketched' effect. Something like this;
