Today my dear old friend Max, the oldest of my pugs has passed on. Max was a sweet deaf pug that came into our rescue in 2002 emaciated, with pneumonia and heart disease, and cancer. The vet at that time said he probably wouldn't make it - but he did. With some TLC he got better and has been with me ever since. This morning his breathing was labored, and by this afternoon he could not stand. I rushed him to the vet and the vet said his heart sac and lungs had filled with fluid. He felt he would not make it through the night. The most humane things was to let him go now, and so he was given medicine to put him to sleep and then some to carry him on to his next journey. I miss him already

I had a Max once, too.

Thanks for being humane and not prolonging an animal's pain/suffering.
We should all be so lucky when our time comes, to go with dignity.
Sorry to hear about this Linda, I truly am.

Really sorry to hear this Linda. It always seems cruel that these beautiful animals have such short lifespans. I wish my pooch could live for ever, luckily he is only 3 so I have a while to prepare yet.

Really am sorry to hear your sad news, take care,

Darren

Linda,
I know what you're going through. We just had our Airedale Max put down 3 weeks ago. I felt like someone ripped my heart right out of my chest. At least you know that you gave him a good life. Good luck and keep the faith.

Thank you everyone who has commented her and pm'd me. I knew this day was not far off as he had so many health problems. You just are never quite prepared though. I am trying to stay focused on the knowledge that all his pain and struggles are now over. He knew he was loved

My thoughts are definately with you at this time. Nothing we really say will take away the sadness, but you are loved from so many DPC members, and we have shared your wonderful extended family so many times, with your muched love pugs.
Linda, I mean every word, when I say my sincere thoughts come your way today, and aways, and just wanted you to know we care so deaply for you, at this sad time.
The hurt with fade with time, and we are still blessed with your wonderful portfolio, which you share with us, re your wonderful, quirky, and warm hearted images, of your favorite beloved pets.
Time heals many woulds, and hopefully sweet memories will always replace the sadness.

You knew that Max was loved, but you to, are much loved by so many here at DPC..... We love you Linda.....

Dang, I can never read posts like these without suffering a bit of eye leakage. Love my kids, and hate that they don't live as long as we do, you know? My heart goes out to you, Linda. Been there, done that, never easy. But my long ago kids still come visit me in dreams sometimes. I love it when that happens. May Max still visit you, too.
