I've searched the forums for a topic on this product and haven't found any threads containing a discussion on it. I'm starting a new thread for that reason. If a thread has been created, admins, feel free to lock/delete/point me in the right direction.

//www.prostockmaster.com/

For those of you unfamiliar with this product, it is in alpha/beta testing and is available for free download. It is an all in one micro stock editing tool that allows you to keyword and upload to the six major micro stock agencies. I love this program because it means I don't have to deal with FTP for any of the main stock sites I upload to. I've used the product for about a month and my trial version expired a few days ago. This morning I received an e-mail from the author of the program (I’m subscribed to his newsletter) stating the following:

"Finally: Payment, price and the unlimited version

I just finished today testing of all the payment stuff. The payment processor is going to be PayPal and the product price will be EURO 39. / $49.

All the payments are processed on PayPal site and at the end the payer receives software activation code generated by ProStockMaster site. I hope you guys will excuse me if I will not accept GBP and AUD at least at this phase. PayPal also accepts credit cards, so it should handle 99% of payment options this way.

I am also adding an affiliate program, so anyone who want to promote ProStockMaster will get 25% sales commission on any sale of the software to his/her referred buyer.

At the moment I need 2-3 more days to add "lock/unlock" functionality to the software, so a person who has downloaded ProStockMaster can pay, get his activation code and enter it in the app without a need to re-download the software. I think at the end of this week all this stuff will be ready."

Here are my major concerns:
1) The website is sketchy. Don’t ask me to quantify that. It just feels…. sketchy.
2) I do have security concerns with the program. Is there any way this program can monitor my passwords or is it like an FTP program?
3) As much as I love the program, $49 coupled with my other concerns seems prohibitive.

Is anyone else thinking of spending $49 on this?

Thoughts?

Well, I love this software and I bought the unlimited license immediately when the commercial version was available - it was a few weeks ago. Every night when I start uploading my images I say to myself that these $49 was probably the best spending in my life :-)
Prostockmaster saves hours for me.

If it even saves you a couple hours worth of time then the $49 shouldnt really be a concern. Time is money and if the software will allow you to save lets say an average of 10 hours a month monitoring, uploading etc then it sounds as if it would easily pay for itself in the 1st month.

A sketchy web site isnt necessarily a bad thing BUT in order for it to access stock sites and upload files etc for you then you must be inputting passwords somewhere. If you are entering them in the software then security is a very real concern. Heck, even if the passwords arent entered into the software it can still work as a key logger and transmit logs over the net to someone who can then browse the logs, see where you have gone and extract passwords.

Im certainly not saying that is the case with this software, but I would err on the side of caution myself. Today with so much stuff being done online the focus has changed from distructive virus's to those that can reside undetected and funnel info from your system to those waiting. Its big business.

I looked at this too. The software is a pain though. You still have to go in to each of the websites afterwards to finish the process. I didn't think about the entering passwords. Damn. It did work but I uninstalled it pretty quickly.

I also tried out Stock Photo Assistant
//www.softsymphony.com/photoassist.htm
but that's clunky too.

Still looking for something that works well.... Anyone?
