Inspired by recent threads, I wrote this today.
It is about every one of us here at DPC.

It is about you.

In front of the lens or behind
everybody is beautiful in somebody's eyes

Fearfully and wonderfully made
no matter what you look like
don't be ashamed

hold your head high
make this your battle cry:
"I am Beautiful, world!
From my head to my toes
to the tip of my nose
From the inside to the outside.
You will look at me and know
I am Beautiful"

You all are so welcome... I really feel like everyone needs to know this about themselves and I'm really glad God gave me the words for this today.

This is very touching, and also quite moving, and so well thought out.
It not only touched my heart, but also my soul.
I hope anyone who is a little bit down, and see this thread, and reads this poem, that you have written, will surely make them feel better about themselves.
Kelly it is a beautiful poem that you have written, and shared with us.
Thank you so much.

You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw your face in
a crowded place,
And I don't know what to do,
'Cause I'll never be with you.

(quoted: James Blunt)

The apparition of these faces in the crowd;
Petals on a wet, black bough.

(quoted: Ezra Pound)

I do think the 'Sunscreen song' would be apt to quote -

Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not
understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and
recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before
you and how fabulous you really looked….You’re not as fat as you
imagine.

Enjoy your body,
use it every way you can…don’t be afraid of it, or what other people
think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever
own..

Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.

Well said.

awwww. don't feel that way. YOU'RE AWESOME!!. don't worry though I feel that way too. even the old part. 26 isnt that bad for cute little single chickies who go to bars and act young but it's old and depressing when you have two kids who've ravaged your body and have been with your husband for close to a decade. I may as well be 90.

Even 90 year olds are beautiful: wrinkles, saggy skin, gray hair, and everything that shows the life they have lived.

I think that's what's so good about stretch marks and c-section scars, too. They say so very much. I am losing my apprehension about them more and more as time goes by.

One of my all-time favorite poems, by one of my all-time favorite poets...I thought it fit this thread perfectly. :)

PHENOMENAL WOMAN
by Maya Angelou

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies
I'm not cute or built to suit a model's fashion size
But when I start to tell them
They think I'm telling lies.
I say
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips
The stride of my steps
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please
And to a man
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees
Then they swarm around me
A hive of honey bees.
I say
It's the fire in my eyes
And the flash of my teeth
The swing of my waist
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say
It's in the arch of my back
The sun of my smile
The ride of my breasts
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say
It's in the click of my heels
The bend of my hair
The palm of my hand
The need for my care.
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That's me.

Look how beautiful
are all the things that He does:
His signature
is the beauty of things.
