Yes or no? I am not looking for an order fulfillment company persay, but im looking for a company to provide a good ordering system for my clients and to collect payments.

Is this a good service to use for that?

Great company. Highly recommend. I used them for about a year before I moved the entire operation to smugmug. Payments are almost instant.

Is smugmug better? Does smugmug do the same thing?

Do you have to buy the express digital darkroom software?

Yeah, smugmug will do the same fulfillment, but also with the pro version you get unlimited upload capability -- if you use it, you never worry about a hard drive crash or DVDs again!

I like Smugmug - their ordering process is clean and smooth, and I've never had any problems with them. No special software to buy or use, just upload the shots and set the price and there you go.

Edit: With Photoreflect you don't have to buy the software, but you will have to use the free version -- can't operate without it.

im guessing smugmugs print quality is great?

Can you use your own site with smugmug or do you have to use a smugmug site?

Yes, I've ordered 2-20X30s, a 20X24, a 16X24, a 11X17 and tons of "normal" sized prints from them. Not been disappointed yet. And.....they deliver within 5 days of order.

Use your own domain and their fulfilment - use your domain and their site builder - or - use smugmug 100% ---- your choice.

Smugmug's quality is indeed great; I've had clients order monster sized prints from really tight crops with fantastically awesome results. However, while they do ship prints within 2 days of order, it can take 3-14 days to receive them with standard shipping. To get them within 5 days of order placement, you need to pay a little bit extra for express shipping.

The last order I placed with them was last week while I was on vacation -- I wanted them delivered to my vacation location so I ponied up for overnight/next business day. I was getting nervous that it still wouldn't arrive on time, and I'd be back home from vacation by the last business day that I was in town. I wrote to Smugmug and asked them to look into it and make sure the prints shipped by a particular day or else I'd have to change the shipping address. I had a response from a real person within 2 hours, confirming that my prints would definitely be where I wanted them to be on the day I wanted them to be there. Sure enough, the promises were made good.

It's that kind of exceptional and personal customer service that makes me stick with Smugmug. I mean, holy crow -- an e-mail from a real person in under 2 hours with a confirmation e-mail from the printer shortly after that?!!! Awesome!

I've been using their sitebuilder - which is okay, but not terrific. If you customize with html, the sky is the limit. there are a zillion tutorials on Digigrin (their forums) about how to customize. I'm a little too busy to figure it all out so I've asked for help.

My site should be new and improved over the next few weeks - maybe sooner :)
