I have CS2, and I don't know how to reduce noise on my photos. I took ISO 400 photos (forgot the stupid settings, and didn't READ the viewfinder infos on the bottom) so I end-up with NOISY pictures... and I don't know how to fix it :(

any help?

If you are using a Mac, I use a PS plug-in called "Grain Surgery" that works really well.

ISO400 is that noisy?
CS2 has marvelous noise reduction settings and is very configurable, especially being able to go into advanced and adjust levels in each of the RGB channels.

That's unbelievable but there is many noise... I have to crop the image a bit, and that makes it worse...

I will try RGB adjustment...

I have been shooting a lot of stock lately. My D100 can be noisy even at 200 ISO. I have been getting around that with Adobe Lightroom and the Adobe DNG converter. I convert my raws to a DNG and then use Lightroom's noise reduction feature. It’s really helped me reduce the noise in my shots. I'm doing all of this on a PC.

It's possible to mask/hide the noise if it's simply COLOR noise by:

- Duplicating the background layer.
- Gaussian Blur at 4-5
- Set the layer blending to COLOR

You'll still have 'grain' but it won't be as strong as the Red and Green noise that stands out.

IMHO "neat image" is always worth a try: //www.neatimage.net/ You can use it as a PS plugin or standalone.
It only works for pics at or below dimensions of 1000px. If you want to use it for lager ones, you have to buy it.

My olympus sp-350 has a noise reduction feature in the camera. Is it worth using? I have no idea. Yes that is a deer with no eyes.

What about using CS2's built in noise reduction filter?

I only have PS 7.0.

I used CS2's noise reduction and downloaded "Neat Image" program. I think I just have to learn how to take better photos. Fixing it actually getting rid of some details. I know some people take their time, and find exact settings, which I really don't have time to play with settings... besides, looking at the screen that long time while fixing the image bothers me.

Thanks for the suggestions though.
