I just dropped a decent chunk on a flash, and now I feel guilty for not having it with me during the day when I walk around and stuff. It's sorta huge, making my and my camera much more "hey-look-at-me"-ist, but I want to use it more. How often do you guys have your flash on you, and do you keep it on the mount or do you carry it in a bag or something? Just wondering if I'm alone in my fear of carrying a hu-normous flash.

I carry all my gear in a backpack all the time.

mine is constantly in my bag, and my bag is constantly on my back. Never know when you will need it

I also carry all my gear in a pack that is with me all the time. If you really want the "hey-look-at-me" look add a lightsphere too! But be prepared for stupid comments like "that looks like it should store salad".

My flash is always in my bag with fully charged NiMH batts and spare Alkelines. Also, now my Lightsphere is traveling with me :-)

Yup, 24/7, with extra batteries and a gary fong diffuser. They're always in the bag so anytime I need them.... there they are! I use flash LOTS outdoors in daylight.

I have a Jansport from 2nd grade that I use once in a while, and I really need a backpack, but they are too expensive for me :-(. If I had a backpack I suppose I would keep my flash in it. However, I carry my camera pretty much all the time, usually with a spare lens hanging on my belt. Not sure if I could do the backpack thing all the time even if I had one.

I usually carry my flash all the time as well. If you got a SB-600 or SB-800 be sure you learn the i-TTL (off camera) capabilities. That's good stuff. Good info here: kenrockwell.com

I actually have a Sigma EF-500 DG Super, which has all of the CLS, remote, and iTTL capabilities of the SB-800. I'm familiar with Rockwell, but thats for the strobist link.

fairly often, but honestly only when needed. I think one we all get to a certain point, you know if you will need it that day. if it is helpful to the photograph, even daytime nature/landscapes, I will supplement the natural light.
