this is my first time posting my photo's here (haven't had the chance to enter any of the challenges yet, hopefully soon), I've been hesitating posting pictures in the past. But I guess I have to get over that fear sometime if I'm to improve.

Just a newbie when it comes to photography, I got my S2 IS for my birthday in November before that we had a HP 315 (something like that), had a semester of digital photography class at the local community college, and I try to be serious about my photography when possible, though I still need to improve greatly. Though photography seems like it's going to fall to the side this school year (my senior year), because I'm freaking out about everything for my classes already, but I'm sure I'll make time for it.

These were taken this past Satuday at my zoo, it's not a huge place, but it suits me fine. Just a few of the pictures I took. Edited in PS (contrast, resized, sharpen, border, those sorts of things)
Jaguar
Macaw
Bird not sure what kind it is
Flamingo

Constructive criticism is fine. Because I do want to improve. I'll probably be going back to the zoo in the next month or so because I missed some of the animals because they never came out. :)

Those are fantastic. The zoo here in Austin is really bad for photographing many of the animals due to the heavy fencing but it looks like you didn't have any problems like that.

The composition on the "bird" photo is really good. Would have been better if more of it's eye was open.

actually quite a few of the animals in our zoo are caged/fenced in. I just posted the ones that weren't most of the monkeys and smaller animals (foxes, birds (except for the ones they had in the aviary) and whatnot). Which is what I had a hard time photographing. I'll put a few of those up maybe.

I think your unknown bird is scientifically known as the "Closeuptus halfeyecloseus" bird but I may be mistaken.

Thanks. They were all just in the aviary and there weren't any signs up saying what birds were in there.

XD maybe when I know I'll get some use out of a membership, I'll scrap up the money to get one (I don't get ahold of my bank account for another 3 months or so haha)

oh and if ya'll want to see some 'behind the bars' pictures
Monkey
Fox

Jen the bird (Galah), is known in the US as a Rose-breasted Cockatoo, I thought it looked like a Cockatoo, so when I googled "Galah" I found the other name..

Nice shots too!

I love to see the animal from zoos. (3 of my top 4 pictures are zoo shots). Good work and thanks for posting.
