Hi All,
First post so be gentle :)
Just upgraded my 300D to the 30D and bought Canon's lovely 17-85 IS lens. Unfortunately, I now have a 'ring size' of 67mm compared to all my old lenses of 58mm. New filter time then!
Question is: which UV & Circular Polarising lenses should I buy?
Now, I am happy to get a decent circ pol lens as I can buy a step-up ring to use on my 58mm lenses - but what about UV? I partly use these as permanent lens protectors. How much money should I spend before it becomes better than the kit I have?
Cheers guys,
Chris |

I've never once in my life screwed on a UV filter, as I find them to be relatively pointless. But that's a personal taste issue, so I'll let others give you some opinions.
As for circ. polarizer, I've used a handful of different brands, but my favorite is Moose's Warming/Circ. Polarizer. I believe it's being sold under the Hoya brand now, though it's still the same filter. Good price, as well.
If you don't want the Warming, B+W and Hoya both have their own Circ. Polarizer, which are quite good. |
