Hi alls,

What about a challenge on clouds? Their shape and colors can be identified as every day life objects. The interpretation of their shape can add an interesting point on the challenge.

Sorry if this suggestion was made before (or if a clouds challenge has already been performed)... I'm nearly new in this community.

This would be good if done over a month because sometimes we don't have clouds for that long except for white skies.

Do you think that such a challenge (1 month long) could be organized by dpchallenge (in parallel with the usual challenges)?

Same here. Either all blue skies or overcast and no depth to the clouds. Fog city.

Well, even fog can be intersting... Maybe if you take off from the ground, go up in the city (hill, building...) fog can create a good effect. And maybe if you go out from the city, you could see some sky ;)

I love clouds, and taking cloud pictures. I just don't know if it's practical since they're so unpredictable. And, to some degree the shots would then mostly be judged on the basis of which clouds looked better, not on photographic skill or merits.

A friend once described taking pictures of clouds, sunsets, etc., as taking credit for God's art.

Y'all might appreciate //www.lenswork.com/lwf-004.pdf

There was also a collection in //www.lenswork.com that was entirely cloud pictures - I don't have a link handy though.

I don't think I've ever seen a whole day without clouds! =)

I hate narrow worded challenges,same as "spider is no insect" thing,SKY would be more wider theme which can include clouds and smoke, IMO!
And Fog ,rain,baloons,birds ,overcast,clear or
Single Cloud

I do! Very cool shots. That first one is quite bizarre looking.

I prefer the other view of those puffy white things:

//jcole.us/gallery/sky-downunder/IMG_1091
//jcole.us/gallery/sky-india/IMG_1357

Also browse around the "Sky" gallery, there are plenty more! ... Let me know what you think!

love the idea of a clouds challenge, but geee I just hope the week when this challenge takes place is more than a week of overcast and rain. Tonight would have been a fantastic night for me for cloud photos. The hurricane has pushed in some beautiful spinning clouds.

I shoot a lot a cloud photos. Yesterday, I shot this Late Summer Sunrise while driving Isaac to school. "Colors enhanced to show detail."

I love clouds and it could make a good challenge. I love watching them in summer on your back in a field - fantastic!

I saw this formation recently in the evening:

Really nice! I love the one taken on the ocean, with little clouds. Are you a pilot or something to have so many pictures taken from the sky?

Wow! That is a really pretty sky. I love the colors, too bad that they're not naturally those colors!

Thanks for your comment Jean.

Here's another favourite of mine - very dramatic stuff:

I really enjoy a good cloud picture. I'm not sure that I could face 200 odd of them in one go though - perhaps if it wasn't just clouds - but landscapes containing clouds or something - not sure how to word it for the dpc lawyers, but maybe 'cloudscapes' could include other features.

I think a fairer challenge would be "Sky" and I would hope it would specifically state that there can be some "Ground" in the shot, but it should be "about" the sky... That way folks in the desert aren't forced to take a week off.

Thanks! The original version wasn't bad, especially considering the circumstances, but I wanted to get some yellow into the sunlight.

The original had only the RGB curve adjusted a little; the colorized version had the Blue/yellow curve adjusted as well.
