Why?

I explained why in my comments.

Where is this so called "bump" button?

I don't know Gordon. I still like my shot better. I would really like to have more of your oppinion of why before I make a rash decision!

This is an interesting shot, but seems kind of touristy snapshot. Perhaps if we could get a better angle or something to bring up the contrast. :shrug

I like the subject and lamp, but the sky makes this a TERRIBLE picture. No offense intended, just my opinion. What ever the sky looked like before, it had to have been much better then the yellow sky here. :) I don't even need to see what it looked like before, it MUST have been better.

Plus, I know the comments say it wasn't minipulated but why is the part of the sky perfectly grey in one part of the lamp (through the glass) but yellow in the other part of the lamp? Doesn't make any sense to me.

I agree on this point also. Kind of odd that the center is yellowish and the other 2 sides are gray.

I don't much care for the PSP sepia manipulations either, though there seem to be many people using it these days. This was just one of the few pictures that had any nostalgic pull for me personally.

I like the sepia toning in some picture subjects, but you have to be carefull how you use it. I've found the best tone is the "brown" color which is setting the Hue to 22-25. Anything else gives too much magenta/red (<22) or too much green (25>). Then you have to make sure you don't oversaturate. I like from 18 to 25.

In this pic however, I don't think the "sepia technique" was used on the whole picture. The yellow of the sky doesn't seem to effect the building. Plus I can see a halo around parts of the building which indicates that the image was made with several layers. I'd be very surprised if this picture was made within the rules of the challenges. Just my opinion tho.

If you read the details under the photo it tells how it was done within the rules :)

I like the photo and for some reason really like the b/w with a touch of color. It adds to the nostalgia feel of it for me. I would love to go see this place ! Nice pick Gordon.

Shiizzzam, yeah I know. I'm just thinking that maybe the person thought they were within the rules but may were not without knowing it. I've seen enough pics and techniques and the effects of certain techinques to know the difference. :)

No big deal, I really like the subject. Looks like a great place, I'd love to visit England and snap about a 1000 pics while I was there. :D

My main dissappointment in life is not having picked up a camera sooner, when I lived in the middle of some of the most scenic, wild parts of Scotland and then in some of the most picturesque parts of England. No, I waited until I moved to the middle of Texas :( Hopefully I'll get back there soon with camera in tow, but I still wish I had paid more attention when I lived there.

One of the very few shots I took in Scotland:
