Riot! I'm enjoying the crest of success with my personal best score on Insects, followed by Sports which is currently topping that. Ah, but lest I get too full of myself.... My Life shot is tanking at 4.5! Life, ya gotta laugh. :)

It just means that the last two each gave you a 1. Take it with a ...grain of salt. These challenges are means of filling up your picture portfolio for free :) At least, that's how I look at it.

... picture of a baby.
Where's the interpretation of life? I just see a lot of photos of life.
Where's the challenge literalists when I need 'em?

heheh : )
Good luck to all the bouncing babies anyway.

The literalists must be out there.

I woke up this morning to find a shot I thought was fairly good (lots of clear color, what I thought was a clear interpretation of life, action and clear focus--no narrow DOF on this one, my nostalgia shot suffered from the "I hate narrow DOF" voting block) rating a miserable 4.25.

I just bought a medium format film camera and want to focus on becoming a better, more precice photographer by using it. I also will be on assignment weekend after this one photographing the local international folk festival for the arts council.

Someone must have changed their score downwards, plus a couple of really low scores - 1s? :( Life sucks. :)

I started voting leniently - picture of a baby could be the most meaningful thing in their life, the regeneration of life, the beginning of life, etc... But the more pictures of life (living things), not an exploration of what life means or is about, the crankier I got...

Mine seems to be bombing out, also. It was 5.4 last night when I went to bed with 14 votes. Now it's down to 4.35 with 42 votes. I think I'm going to cry.

Well either I've submitted a really terrible shot or the non-literalists (sic) aren't out there either........

4.5 down form 5.5 this morning

ackkkk

5.4 from 6.2. Hey, I like 'em volatile.

All of this makes me wonder what the high scores out there are like. If all of them are generally low, I would blame it on each personal interpretation of "life" and they interpretation of their picture joining together.

I'd be happy with a 4.5 right now. This is the first time I've been in the 3's and it sucks. I have a good photo, but the interpretation isn't fitting well into anybody's view of life. I thought it would be a good time to take a risk since the theme was so wide open, but I guess not.

I was on 2.8... right after I got 7.26 for my 'Insect' shot.
My 'Sport' shot is now on 3.1
Ah well, at least I got a ribbon recently!

BTW, taking the queue from the thread title, I'm surprised nobody did anything with "Life's a Bitch". Or even "Life's a Beach".

Wouldn't it be nice if there was check box for "This comment was unhelpful" as well as "This comment was helpful"? I'm sick of comments like, "Someone else did this better." or "Pitiful." That doesn't help me to become a better photographer.

Also, like everyone else, my life pic is on a downward trend (5.1 this morning to 4.6 tonight).

I really thought this was a great contest. Its was a blast to vote on. I gave fairly low scores to bugs and flowers. But, there where some great ones out there.

I went from a 5.3 to a 4.3 =(
I was hoping it'd knock the stupid clown off my profile! lol.

Don't let yourself wrongly influenced by that.
It could be that you will react like somebody would like you would.

thank you glimpses
I always find it strange though that the shots I am usually not so happy with do very well and those that I find most creative and "me" do so poorly, it is ironic. I am however learning to do allow my favorites be entered vs. the ones I think will have popular appeal, as I did in this shot.

Ooh, someone call an ambulance... I'm steadily sliding from a peak of 9.9 all the way down to the mid 8s. Something's gonna blow...

Damn those voters... damn them all...
