Hm... Got a question.

The challenge details state:

We all use it in one form or another. Your challenge this week is to creatively photograph your idea of "transportation"

Would a skateboard be considered transportation to many, or do you think I would get docked for it?

I'd call it transportation, it gets you from one place to another, I am considering shooting footwear.

Any one else?

"your idea of "transportation" "

But that said yes I think it is transportation so no DNMC from me but I very loosely interpret the challenge descriptions anyway.

:-P

It says "creatively" so they must be expecting all kinds of ideas about things that take you from a place to another, a skateboard sounds good to me

I would also agree that a skateboard helps some people get from place to place, and it's a creative solution to the challenge, so no DNMC from me.

Just a thought though if you're concerned about those DNMC votes... perhaps showing someone engaging with the skateboard would help those voters who are thinking of more common modes of transportation to not give that DNMC vote. To stretch the idea a bit further, if someone entered a shot of an elephant, I'd be a bit baffled, but if they entered people riding an elephant, the connection would be more obvious.

This one worked for Vehicles... Why wouldn't a skateboard be Transportation... Though I wouldn't shoot it in a half pike...

Ask a 15-year old if they think its transportation. My guess, is you'd get a resounding yes! As I'm desperately trying to clutch on to my fading youth. I'm with the kids! I say go for it. Great idea!

I agree with the above post!

I assumed anything that assists with forward, backward, or sideways motion that could possibly move your body, inanimate objects, or the like to another destination....counts as transportation. And a skateboard is one of those such things.

My submission is not exactly the 'classic' take on the challenge, but my instincts say it fits...so I recommend going with yours!

Good luck :)

What about hands? I often walk on them all the time.

What about an Opossum carrying its babies on its back? Or a bird flying with a stick in its mouth for the nest? They are all getting transported, so that would be a type of transportation.

It's all use of the imagination. With this in mind I wouldn't be too quick to judge a picture. An open mind is a learning mind.

Personally I'd think that any form of transportation is OK.
Transportation means "moving/carrying means" so will a photo of a backpack works? - it is used to transport my stuff from one place to another!

how about a map to carry your mind to a far away land :) ?

I've taken 50 billion versions of transportation during the vacation I'm still enjoying (trucks, rickshaws, monkeys carrying monkeys, ppl piggyback riding). Due to it's extension I can't get home in time to enter the challenge. Bloody hell I've more strangers in my vacation pics then me. life's sad.

Agreed. By saying creatively photograph your idea of "transportation" it's even feasible to see an "idea" or two...which raises all kinds of possibilities.

Not sure that I'm feeling creative enough to enter this one, but I look forward to voting on it if nothing else. ;^)

I hope nobody takes offense to my question because I certainly couldn't come up with something I thought worthy but does anybody else feel it was like looking at a bunch of snap-shots?

Even if they aren't supercreative they don't need to be a bunch of snapshots. But I know what you're talking about.

I just finished voting as well and I too feel that this challenge lacked creativity. I keep seeing the same types of shots over and over again. Not that they are not good photos, and I do try to vote on the actual quality and concept, but I am getting bored. But that is what it is all about. The ones that stand out and has the WOW factor are the ones that win. Good luck to all who entered.
