Hi all!

It´s been a while since I posted.

I went to a great Sigur Ros concert tonight and I'm just so thrilled after the concert that I just have to share a couple of photos from it.

Sigur Ros is now holding a series of free outdoor concerts in Iceland, this one was in Reykjavik tonight.

All pictures are taken with the Canon 30D + 70-200mm f/2.8 IS (except for the last one which is taken with the Canon 17-40mm)

Manual mode, ISO1000, f/2.8, Shutter 1/200 - 1/250, spot metering.

*Jealous!*

And beautiful photos too. My favourite is definitely -6 (large crop with just the shoulders and head in the bottom-right corner).

I love these guys... my fav is 6th down (Sigur Ros 9), with the light shining from behind him.

i've never heard of them and was intrigued by the bow and the guitar, so i just hopped on itunes to hear some samples.

am downloading an album right now, what beautiful sounds!!

your photos are lovely, too... i'm in agreement, my fave's the 6th down. :) thanks for sharing!

Sorry muckpond, I thought that the pictures size wouldn´t be a problem... they are all between 200-300kb.

Thanks all!

Anna, I hope you like their music! My favorite album is Agaetis Byrjun, that album put them on the world stage.

Well done, and a great band aswell.
Really jealous here.

Thanks all!

I was very happy how the pictures turned out, this is the first time I do concert photography

I was lucky that I got a good spot to shoot from right next to the stage. No press pass for me :( :)

I did see Heida and other DPC-ers with a press pass, damnit! :)

Intrigued by the bow and guitar - though I doubt he's the first guitarist to use the two together. I once saw a cellist play chords on her cello like a guitar - very impressive (her own composition).

Yep, here´s a quote from their website:
Originally posted by Sigur Ros:

much about sigur rós is coincidental.. for instance jónsi being the singer and him using the bow on the guitar.. ágúst (the former drummer) got a cello bow for his birthday and georg started "torturing" his bass with it (it sounded horrible) and then jónsi tried it on his guitar (which sounded better). jónsi has used the bow since at every concert.

At one point in the concert, he lifted his guitar up to his face and sang through the pickups in the guitar. He does things the unusual way :)

I have been a fan of this group for about 7 yrs. One of the most unique on the stage today.

I was fortunate to see them in Minneapolis,Minnesota USA a few months ago.

When I am asked to describe the kind of music they attempt, All I can say is \"Masters of Cresendo\". They build from a whimper to a soaring explosion.

I have favorite takes from all their albums ( those availuable in the US)
What does \"Agaetis Byrjun\" mean? Language is an issue with some. There are those who believe that they are not even saying anything. Only chanting noise.

I suspect you saw a similar concert. The fine Photographs you have look like it. The proprietors would not allow me to take my camera in, so I am pleased that you were able to. If you would allow me, I will download them so I have an assimilance of the concert I saw.

Ivar, Thank You for sharing these with us.

Hi and thanks!

You are welcome to download them.

"Agaetis Byrjun" can mean two things in english:
"A pretty good start" / "A good start"

Fortunately I did not have any issues with taking pictures. This was an outdoor concert and there was no admission. I saw cameras everywhere and neither the security nor the band seemed to care. Sigur Ros is now touring Iceland doing I think in total of 6-7 concerts and all of them are free of charge.

I just feel so happy for all the tourists that are now in Iceland, this must have been a fun surprise for them to be able to see Sigur Ros perform in their native country, and that for free :)
The attendance at the concert last night was about 15.000 people (5% of the total population in Iceland).
