I'm about to plan a workshop for a week in France, Les Pyrénée, Ariège given by ...... me.
It will be a beginners workshop for landscape and flower photography. Actually everything you'll see while hiking in the mountains.
Very "low profile".
You'll stay in a hotel or gîte and every morning I'll tell something about photography and give an assignment, then you're free to go and enjoy making pictures, and every evening we'll watch the pictures taken that day and comment on them. Maybe one or 2 trips to special places together.

I wanted to do this in Dutch, but maybe I'll do it in English. The only problem is, my English isn't that good (Hmm really!!! Yep) I'm not affraid to make mistakes, and I can make myself clear in English, but its not flawless at all.

Would you mind to take a course or workshop from somebody who doesn't speak English fluently. Given that you do understand it and learn something?

Well, if you are interested how beautiful the mountains are check out my new portfolio collection
//www.dpchallenge.com/portfolio.php?USER_ID=46294&collection_id=16325
or my weblog (sorry it's Dutch, but you can check out the pictures...)
//www.majankafotografie.nl/blogarchief/2005_09_01_majanka_archive.html

the pictures are all only raw developed and not post procesed.

Hey Majanka,

If only I knew this sooner - could have planned to join you. I love that region. Anyway to answer your question - it depends on who you're giving the workshop to. I wouldn't mind at all as long as the speaker is clear. If you're giving it to French natives, you might want to check their level of comprehension, not so much on the language itself but on the accent. But since you're dutch, I guess the accent won't be too foreign to them. Some have problems with southern American and Asian accents or heavy Irish, Welsh (you get the idea, anything out of the media norm). Hope that helps. :)

Hey Thanx! It sure helps!! :)

Well I want to give the workshops in june or september 2007 (and if it is a succes maybe both...)

At first the intension was to give Dutch people a Photo holiday. I know a gîte owner in the Ariège and he is Dutch. He asked me to give the workshop. After the GTG in Muenster I thought wow this is great, all those nationalities together, why do it in Dutch, lets give English a try. So that's why I'm asking you guys.
His guests are mainly Dutch, but he has also Spanish, and French guests.

The problem with june and sept is that those are also the months for euro gtg2 and the iceland world gtg. It sounds tempting, but there is just to much I want to do (maybe Russia this october or next spring, Finland in january, euro 2 in june and iceland in sept + maybe a trip to Canada & perhaps the US inbetween).

Actualy it's not really meant to be a DP GTG, (hee if it becomes one that's no problem, I would love it!) More like an individual tripp. And maybe I like it so much and I'll do it again in 2008! haha.

Well I keep you posted, and all hints and tips are welcome!

It's tough to say after just arriving back from my trip two days ago but this sounds nice. Keep me posted.

...and your English is fine, don't worry.

I'd love to go, but I'll have to bring the whole family. After my trip to Germany and Italy last year, my wife says the next time I go Europe, she's going. That means the kids are going too.

I'm sure your English is way better than my Dutch.

Heey your whole family is welcome, Maybe you'll hire a house and you can take the workshop, and the family enjoys the lovely surroundings! It's all possible.
The only time you need is in the mornig and evening a couple of hours, and the rest of the day is for your family and pictures! ;)

I think that this is an excellent idea and one that I would be willing to attend. I love and would have been on a landscape photography workshop this year if I hadn't decided to be completely weird and go the nude and glamour workshop as it was different! :-)

And your English is more than understandable: it is perfectly fine.

That's it...if Carls going...then I'm going!

Still need to see about time off and money but this does sound very cool. Not too far from the Italian Riviera where I want to visit so this could team into a nice little trip. Again...money and time.

Haha guys it's june 2007 and maybe september 2007 so you can still think about it! Haha.

It's such a great area! Very rural and not many tourists, aspecialy in june and september. I've been there twice for about a month and really I was totaly relaxed! Don't expect high tech hotels and great disco's. But lovely small restaurants, local bars an loooooooots of nature. If you like that then you should really ga and visit the Ariège!

Oww by the way if you like the tour de France, they have visit le port a few years ago.

This will probably one of the locations:
//www.ariege.com/auberge2rivieres/info.html

and here I've been twice a month and maybe there will be some place to stay too.
