Firstly, gotta be the most badly worded challenge descriptions ever. Secondly, is this what they mean in english?

Colour on Colour: "Take a photo using objects of just 1 colour."

B&W in Colour: "Take a photo that looks black and white, but shoot and submit it in colour."

That's pretty much what I'm getting from the descriptions.

hmm, maybe I'm just weird...they make sense to me, and sound pretty cool.

I did THESE PHOTOS recently and I think they capture the meaning of this particular challenge. These are color photos but the subject material is naturally grayscale.

The interesting thing is the "Advanced Editing" part.

I'm pretty confused as well. I took the black and white in color to be a color picture whose main focus was a black and white object, but I could be wrong, and I don't understand the color on color one. Glad to see it's not just me, though. :)

I'm thinking the B&W one is taking pictures of things that are black and white, such as dalmatians, kitchen tiles, newspaper print, etc.

And the other is just using one color for the entire subject.

I give up... I'm not even going to try to submit to either of these OR GOLD.

Despite the multiple replies, I'm still confused.

I am thinking something like this would be the b&w colour?-

Sounds like it. Like white on white but any color on any of the same color. And photo something that's black and white in real life, not via post processing. The descriptions are certainly getting a bit unwieldy lately.

Oh dear, these DO sound confusing. This can't be good for the voting stage... :)

That is how I understand it.

It's simple. Use multiple items of the same color to make a shot.

Black and white items, but shoot in color mode. DO NOT convert to B&W.

That's how I see it.

The key is the use of the word "primarily" in each post. Other colors can be in the image, but the impact should be "primarily" from the objects in the photo that satisfy the color or black and white criteria, depending which challenge you enter. IMHO lepidus has it right.

Faidoi, IF you think "advanced editing" interesting on THIS challenge...how bout on the 'straight from camera' challenge..it was ADVANCED editing, also.

A re-wording of the descriptions are in the works.
Hang tight, hopefully all will be clear shortly! :)

Color On Color is one of my all time favorite photography themes. Since I've had a go at that plenty of times, I'll be more than happy to post some of my previous tries for example. But it's 1a.m. and I must get to bed. So will do tommorow.

But here's one I already posted that would fit in well, I think.

Straight from the Camera had a very understandable explanation for it's being listed as Advanced rules. It was a Member Challenge where Advanced is the normal ruleset. There was a Special Rule that superceded the normal rules. The same Special Rule would also have superceded Basic rules if Straight from the Camera had been an Open Challenge.

I wish there was an equally apparent reason for this week's two Open Challenges being run under Advanced rules. This is at least the third time this has occured. It kinda ticks me off a little bit that there isn't anything available to enter under Basic rules, again. Is this the site's answer to the complaints about large numbers of entries? I hope not.

I did understand that about the 'straight out of camera' for advanced..sorry if i was misunderstood...was merely making light of things being stressed...sorry...if it matters...be thankful WE can SEE to actually know color and take ANY pictures...ribbon quality or not. God's blessings to you all and good luck with challenges...S
