Here are a couple photos I did of "Crabtree Falls" today...

Crabtree Falls I

This photo turned out in an interesting way because my polarizer got covered with a fine mist from being too close to the base of the falls...

Crabtree Falls II

I tweaked the white balance a tad on this one to give a slight blue cast...

They are beautiful shots, the second one brings to mind the hair of angels : )
Wonderful silky effect in the first. Curious if you have a version where you cropped the tiny bit of rocks on the bottom of them? Just curious how would look. Very nice job though on both.

No.. i didn't crop the base out of any of these... in my personal opinion. that needs to be there... :)

Very nice looking. Did you use a tripod with a longer shutter speed? I especially like the second one, mostly for the bluer coloration. They could be a bit brighter.

Awsome shots John but I definitely like #2 better...it has greater detail in the rocks and it also looks like you changed your viewpoint and shooting angle so that you took advantage of more side light. I like the way the falls is catching the light in both, but contrast is better in #2 as well. Foreground rocks and plants came out good too.

Zeus, thank you for that comment.. I do agree about the 'amount' of foreground and I did take that into consideration when making these. The angle from which I was shooting did not lend itself to a stronger foreground unfortunately. What is below this particular scene is practically black because it is a small dropoff with no detail so I just elected to leave it out...

Very nice shots. I like the second one best.

I like the sliver of foreground as it adds power to the falls and allows the eye to follow the water all the way down to the bottom without being cutoff prematurely. The imbalance of the shot is good cause it feels as though this area is treacherous.

Both of these were at F8 and 1/10".

I prefer the second one, being a bit of a blue fetishist, and also the rocks with a bit of light on them add a touch more than in the other. The rocks really ground the composition and all that flow takes your eyes down there, so its good that there is a bit of detail to land upon.

John, wonderfull shots. Was this part of your 250 mile motrbike trip yesterday? I absolutely love the first one. Very soft and the addition of the rocks in the right lower corner adds a big punch, because it makes the falls look huge. I find the second foreground looks a bit too harsh, but the water certainly flows well.

Congrats.

Yes... this was the centerpiece of my motorcycle trip yesterday :) I made a full day out of the bike trip and this photoshoot.

I have some more that I haven't finished yet....

#39 is one that I'm particularly interested in finishing up..
