From professional, dedicated studio space to garage to closet to kitchen table, I'm sure we've got it all in DPC! So show us a few shots of where YOU do your creating, and let's see what kind of weird spots the magic is worked :)

Mine (tho' I am embarrassed for anyone to see the mess...);

Btw, I'm a leftie, so excuse the terrible right-handed mouse-printing!

This is the studio my wifeand I set up! We took over the kids games room so it's set up all the time. Consists of 2 x Bowens Esprit Gemini 500w strobes, 2 x Gobox slaves, backdrop frame with 4 different coloured paper rolls plus numerous fabrics, large 5in1 reflector and stand plus numerous bits and pieces.

I have to put up my studio in my kitchen (I have a realy big kitchen) and then shoot from the living room ;) I don't think I have any pics of it I guess....
I only have this pic of 2 of my flashes in the "storage" room.

I wonder if the forum software will handle this topic. FM studio/lighting board is already falling apart.

Glad you posted this, Sheila, so I could see what you're setup is like. It'll be nice to see what other people have for "studio space" just so the rest of us can get a good idea where we should be going if we want to get a little more serious with this photography thing.

A permanent studio doesn't exist for me...just a work light, some desk lamps and some highly sophisticated and very expensive backdrops (cheap bedsheets) :)

Alas, my "backdrops" have been requisitioned to be used as makeshift walls in my basement, as my gf's friend will be staying with us for a while and could use the privacy. I'll have to pick up some more if I want my studio back :)

Here is a link to a Fred Miranda thread on studio set-ups that I have had in fav's for quite a while. Check out JohnE's work...very impressive!

I put my living room back to normal, this thread might be an excuse to destroy it again and set up my lights...LOL

Can't wait to see what you all have. I'd love it if you also posted a result of your set-up :)

It's been seen before, but here is my studio......

I don't have a current pic - I 'll have to work on that.

I think this was in February or March- removing the old (non-structural) walls that sepearted teh basement into a garage and coal room.

This was a bit further along, April maybe. This was my first tests with my new lights. The walls are painted but the wiring is not done, the floor is not painted and I didn't have any backdrops yet.

I'll get a new pic or two tomorrow and post them here.

Okay...Does anyone have a cheap studio to set up. Cause I think I'm going to attempt to set up a REALLY CHEAP studio. Basically taking some cloth hanging it up in a small semi empty room with a wooden board underneath. Throwing a whole bunch of Flood lights and lamps in the room (not heat lamps or soft lights...I'm talking those floor lamps you get from walmart.) But I'd use umbrellas and light colored cloths to filter the light if I need to (hoping that I dont burn my house down).

Ok, Here's one I took of mine when I was trying out using my Octo box to create a white background.

And here is the resulting image. Probably needs a little more contrast or something in PS, but you get the idea.

WOW! These are beautiful. Mine? I use any wall, some cheap fabric, duct tape (of course!), and a bunch of clip on incandescent lights with 75 watt to 100 watt bulbs.lol. :) I do have a little light tent that I only use sometimes and I have a box of what I call "my box of misfit props" so no pictures for me to share. :)

Duct tape is a prop you can't miss :)

I SWEAR your garage looks cleaner than my roommates room, and I am NOT kidding :D

My best 'setup' was when I draped a tan cape made from heavy/velvety material over my desk in the dorms and borrowed my roommate's desk lamp for it. You can see it in my 'Collections' entry.

That was the only time my desk was really clean enough for me to do that. Some of the other shots were on my dark blue bed sheets (which photographs really badly so i don't use it anymore), and still only lit with desk lamps :D

Is that french and spanish?

Oh yeah, and someone mentioned something about a piece of cloth hung in a tiny what used to be a dining room?

That'd be me:

edit to add: of course I did splurge with the credit card and got some real lights, the old walmart desklamps are also hidden in the corner, lol
