What caused this to fall less than average?
I thought is was well executed and the flower stood out. Any input would be great. |

I didn't get to this one, but I probably would have voted a 6 or 7. The flower itself is a little weak in definition, but I love the background. No idea why it fell below average... maybe the voters wanted a stronger flower image?

| only voted on 30% so didn't see during voting - but probably would have got a 6. I love the background and colour in the flower but the composition feels a bit strange to me - I would have been naughty and attacked some of the plant matter with something sharp! Even though the challenge was flowers the best part of the photo is the background, and getting rid of the flowers would have made a stronger impact. |

Your own comment said "I may get hammered for this..."
You didn't make the flowers a strong enough subject for a flower challenge. They are almost incidental in the image.

| I didn't vote on any of the flower photos but if I had I would have given this a 5. I like the colors and saturation. Focus on the flowers is great. But the composition is weak (subject is unclear and weighted toward the lower half of the frame) and the background is distractingly busy. Filling more of the frame with the subject would have helped. Greater fuzziness of the background or a plainer background would have helped. Just my opinion. |

| The bokeh circles in the background is great but I agree the background in general is too busy. |

| It's a beautiful photo. My only nit would be the blown areas in the foreground. Also, I agree with jmsetzler. |

| I gave your image a 6 in my voting. The interesting lines, shapes, and contrasts in the background, even though it is not in focus, itdoes try to pull my eye off the flowers. |
