we have heard them all - all the bashing on challenge topic definitions, the possibilities, the debates on the challenge description... aargh.

so what say you, we have a very restricted challenge topic, where there isn't much room to flex, and see what happens? (besides the rants in the forum) :p

you mean like.. photograph a blue pen for 4 seconds on a white table type of challenge?

07/06/2006 01:21:39 AM · #3
kinda... yes, LMAO

I loved the rubber ducky challenge. It brought out so much creativity.
I would happily see another challenge every bit as inspired and restrictive as that one was.

then someone will photograph a naked girl with the title 'thinking about a blue pen on a white table' and get a blue ribbon

if it's a pretty girl I wouldn't mind that much :p
OK, seriously, it would be like the "rubber duckie" challenge that they had in the past. The rules were quite restricted but yet the photos were interesting - creativity showcase!

Or a blue pen on a white table with a naked girl lying on the table behind it...or....a pen with a naked girl on it lying on a white table.

Hey that brings back a horrid memory. Who remembers those pens that when you turned them upside down the bikini's dropped off the picture of the girl on the pen?

Don't you remember them? Wow...there used to be many different types. I saw ones with men and women on them...they were so cool...and different ranges of naughtiness.

I remember them. Had a couple, just a bit vulgar in a way. But you could get a good laugh out of them when you slipped it into the purse of a female teacher in HS.

You know you dream of hot, steamy, melted cheese at night. Go ahead and admit it. You want cheese, you know you do.

Or, Photograph a blue pen for 4 seconds on a white table. No nakedness, suggestive poses, water droplets, cheese or anything else! That includes sensor dust, air particles, you name it and it's not allowed.

Can someone wiggle a shoehorn into that one? :P

Well, since you're not allowing shoehorms in the challenge... I'd suppose not :-P

Well.. it could be looked at in a few ways...
Photograph a blue pen for 4 seconds - on a white table. Does the camera sit on a white table? Or the photographer?
And what's the definition of pen?

1.A fenced enclosure for animals.
2.The animals kept in such an enclosure.
3.Any of various enclosures, such as a bullpen or playpen, used for a variety of purposes.
4.A repair dock for submarines.
5.An instrument for writing or drawing with ink or similar fluid, especially:
6.A ballpoint pen.
7.A fountain pen.
8.A pen point.
9.A penholder and its pen point.
10.A quill.
11.An instrument for writing regarded as a means of expression: “Tyranny has no enemy so formidable as the pen”
12.A writer or an author: a hired pen.
13.A style of writing: wrote plays with a witty pen.
14.The chitinous internal shell of a squid.
15.A female swan
16.A penitentiary; a prison.
17.abbreviation for penninsula: A piece of land that projects into a body of water and is connected with the mainland by an isthmus.

..so....

other words for pen: cage, can, clink, close, cooler, coop, corral, fence, fold, hedge, hutch, jail, penitentiary, pokey, prison, sty, wall, ball point, fountain pen, ink stick, marker, nib, pencil, quill, reed, stick, stylograph, box, cage, case, close in, confine, coop up, corral, fence in, hedge, hem in, mew, shut in, autograph, compose, draft, draw up, engross, indict, jot down

... you've essentially included everything in the challenge.
=^D

...except a shoehorn.
