In a few weeks I will be going to Lake Tahoe. We will be staying on the North end of the lake in a nice little cabin. We will be there Friday thru Monday morning

I don't know much about the area, but wanted to make sure I hit some of the good photo op places. I know the area must be swarming with beautiful scenery, but im looking to take my girl to a REALLY Beautiful place for a very romantic Sunset.

Any Ideas

It's been a few years since my hubby and I visited: it seems that Emerald Bay on the west side of the Lake was gorgeous. There was a neat island in the middle of the bay, some hiking opportunities, and definitely some great photos to be had.

Emerald Bay like Sunflower said is nice for pics at Tahoe. You should defintely take the time to drive around the entire lake and stop and take pics when you see something that interests you. Also go to Heavenly Valley and take the ski lifts up the mountain. They operate in summer and will take you all the way to the top of the mountain where you can get great pics. Heavenly is on South shore near the casinos. You may want to also take 50 East (from North shore) to Carson City. From there go Gardnerville and Genoa to take pics of the "old West" type of towns.

Have fun! Show us your pictures when you get back.

If you'll have a car, the visitors' center/welcome center for the town (on the California side) sells an audiocassette that narrates a drive all the way around the lake. It was really neat, like a guided tour we could put on pause whenever we wanted.

I also went on a glass-bottomed boat ride, and that island in the bay is great. There's a big house on one side and I seem to recall wrecked stone walls. The actual boat-bottom is a loss, but wonderful scenery above the water.
