Common occurance on sites that allow nudes.

All these husbands can enjoy themselves while their wives think they are studying photography ;o)

Looking at the Lowest Rated Photos I noticed that this gem has held the record for lowest scoring image since 2002:

Score: 1.809

In 2005 this photo almost beat that one and would have had it not received 4 troll votes (i.e. those 10s and 9s) and instead gotten 1s like it should have. :P

Score: 1.881

Come to think of it that's pretty amazing the computer tower pic scored that low. How insulting is that? It's just slighty better than an all white image minus some artistic blur. :P

Surprised? Hey, we are humans, we are born nude, we like nude and our brain is just a very sophisticated piece of bio-engineering evolved for the sole purpose to get other people undressed.

I just can't believe the amount of comments and views these photos have generated - even during voting.
Some poeple mentioned how they spent ages staring at the 'hand' photo trying to make out what was going on it.
I wish sometimes that people spent as much time looking at my challenge entries...

Sometimes it's a little bit embarrasing, if showing the site to a photographer and talking about how much you can learn and how amazing are the images in the site, I go to the "Site Favorites" and most of them are suggestive female nudes....
This has happened a couple of times.

He said that he uploaded that snapshot to show his friend how to submit (or something like that) and forgot to take it down. He seemed pretty embarassed about it being in the dairy challenge.

You could turn on your nude filter and then those thumbnails wouldn't show.

Natural instincts always take first priority. And what’s bad in learning the fun way :) For that matter the most busy place in office is coffee machine ... and for sure we don’t go to office for coffee but it’s the kick of coffee which keeps us going.

I don’t have any nudes is my favs.. but yes- I do like seeing those lovely figures (I’m so very normal ;) lol) ...and as MK said- for others there is always choice of nude filter.

Now that you mention it. I'm off to the nude gallery to see if there is anything new :-)

This is an interesting subject.
First it goes without saying that light and the human skin are challenging subjects and its often far more difficult to photograph a human or paint them as the masters did. Its easier for me as a photographer to capture flowers, and sunsets and cats because unlike the nude models they tend to allow more creativity.

The occasional nude that is displayed both in the demonstration of skill in light and camera work and in the pose of the human form is worthy of a page view. Most however are just prideful displays of the latest hi rez camera and someone who is proud to let it hang out and get seen on the internet.

It is a fine line between art and the human form and pornography.
My respect goes to those who can capture the body and not convey sex and lust but instead form and beauty. I really do not think the DPReview should support Erotic photos and its up to the judges and moderators to discern which is which and do the right thing with nudes that obviously are meant for pervs. With the exception ot the humorous and suggestive ones that mock pornography...... LOL

I hear that all the time, but there is no line (fine or no) between art and "pornography/" I've seen artistic abstracts of vaginas that would quickly be deleted here. I've seen "porn" that was more artistic and technically proficient than certain "art nudes."

The distinction between art and porn is often made by the viewer, more-so than the artist.

I thought I read somewhere that the difference was lighting.

LOL

after reading the comments I think this is one of the greatest images on DPC ;)

why ?

because those that took a look at it spent a few minutes looking at the picture trying to figure it out, those that score 7.5+ and get a blue ribbon are lucky if the average viewer takes 30 sec to look at their picture.

to get the viewer to really look at the picture and study it is why we post pictures here and take part in the challenges, so this picture really got to the viewers.

and therefore has one of the highest success rate on DPC ;)

Take a nude hot chick, throw your WB out of wack for artistic warming and add a grinder and sparking metal and wala ART :-)

Truth be known, nudes are probably one of the most difficult and challenging subjects in all of photography.

Photography is all about lighting and that is one reason nudes have a fundamental appeal to human viewers. That is why B&W is often the chosen presentation methodology. Nudes always have and always will be appealing photographic subjects, not unlike flowers.
