within two minutes of being hired?

I dropped in a resume at the market up the street today, and things were going well. I was told to come back in an hour or so when the man who hires will be in. I came back, he looked at my resume, said it looked good and hired me on the spot. Told me I should start the next week. Then he asked if I planned to work straight through the fall and I said no, because I don't want to lie. He asked if I was going away for school and I said yes, and he promptly told me he wasn't going to hire me then because he expected people to work there long term, as in several years like some girls there had been.

What the eff! He doesn't even pay minimum wage and expects people to spend their lives as cashiers?

What a jerk.

Gah.

then you're better off not working there.

Your not worth a grain of salt if you never get fired.

Life is full only when experienced.

Hm... I got fired from a photo studio once... I was only there for 3 days. I'm still not sure what I did to piss them off...

Maybe they were jealous of your skillz.

My daughter, a college student, runs into this all the time. People don't want to "waste" time training employees who won't be there more than 3 months. Her solution? To give very vague answers if possible or to lie if need be. Plans *do* change, and she's got bills to pay like the rest of us. Do what you need to do.

I have twin girls in college. The best employment they can find (that pays over minimum wage and works with their schedule, part time in the fall, full time in the summer) is a Daycare!! They have been very successful and both seem to love it. They have now been at their jobs for over 2 years balancing school and work. Good luck to you finding a job!!

I was one of the lucky ones and got fired!! Zing! Right into reality!!
But when one door closes, two will open.
Well, I have had many doors open for me and things keep getting better and better!!
Now if I could only get my husband fired.......
Things will work out for the best. I promise!!

I almost got fired one time. They said that I was fired, I said no because I quit, They said you can not do that because you are fired and I said too late I already quit then they said, perhaps you've heard this before? Anyway the next time I get fired will be the day I decide I do not want me working for me any longer. But I still have to fire people from time to time.

Getting fired can come in many forms. Loss a business, bankruptcy, loss of clients.

IF you never have been fired, then you don't know what it feels like to be hungry.

Hunger is a great motivator, teacher, and neutralizer.

It motivates you to find work.

It teachs you your short commings.

It neutralizes things like attitude.
