Hi all,

Is taking the negative of a shot considered altering or using an illegal filter in the Challenges? (The current Oops Challenge)? Thanks!

do you mean inverting the colours, or doing something similar to this?

its legal so long as its applied to the entire image. ("applied to the entire image" is the dpc short hand for the rules..you'll hear it a lot!)

Hmm.. that example seems to be a bit different. I mean making the dark colors light and the light colors dark. Does that help?

well, the same advice applies to shifting saturation and hues...even if you pick just one colour channel, if you apply it to the whole image, you're still in the clear! :)

Chad, if I understand correctly, you could accomplish this by desaturating the image, then using the Invert command. And it's perfectly legal. Hope this helps.

Or if your camera has the negative setting. If it's done in camera it's legal. B&W, Sephia, Negative, Solarized, etc.

"If you feel a photograph has violated the site rules, you may click the "Recommend Disqualification for this Picture" link and enter your reason why. You should then vote on the photo as if the rule was not broken, and leave the determination up to the administrators. "
