I have a 6 month old Fuji 602 which for the most part I am pleased with. I also have a Canon EOS SLR film camera with many accessories, lens, filters etc
I have the chance to purchase a Canon EOS D30 at about the same price I would get for my 602 were I to sell it. The Canon would utilise my flash unit as well as my lens' and allow me to take better pics of my grand babies I'm sure, as the 602 doesnt like low light even with the flash and most pics of them ( on auto) have camera shake.
Any advice gratefully received.

Mr Rob. What flash are you using? I have no problems with my 602 but I would also say that I have a pro light. It works very well and when I have kids my only worry is that I do not submit the children to enough strobe light that can cause Cancer. LOL
I love my 602.
Am waiting for the next generation of Fuji Digital SLR though.

| I'm using a mecablitz on my Canon film camera but it doesnt fit the hotshoe on the fuji unfortunately! |

| D30 is $NZ 1700, can afford it if I seel both my other digital cameras! |

I would swap the 602 for the D30 anyday. Don`t no why you have to think about it. Go get.

| ok, now the same guy has offered me an EOS 10D for $NZ3000 or a D60 for $NZ2200. I'm sorely tempted to go with the D10!! These are bodies only but not a prob as I have the lens! |

| I have a D30 and I can say that you can't go wrong with it but if you can afford the 10D go for it. Just my opinion. |

Ditch that 602, now!
I already had the 602 when I saw the first D30 pic (found out via EXIF, was about motorcycle racing). The D30 pic -with a good lens!- was of superb quality. The 602 is no match. The 10D or D60 is even better.

man i have the S602, but if i had the opportunity to swap it for an SLR when i already had lenses for it, i think i'd go for it. if i'm not mistaken tho, the D30 has a lower resolution than the S602? i could be wrong... I think the S602 is a really sweet camera, but for a digital SLR, i might tend to lean that way a little more. good luck!

Fuji's 602 CCD basically gives you a 2048x1536 4:3 image.
The D30 gives a 2160x1440 3:2 image.
The 602's CCD is said to resolve more detail on a res chart, but when you look at samples it is pretty clear wich one is better. (noise, colors, artifacts of sharpening and compression etc)

sounds like an f/stop problem. your lens is probably too slow. doesn't that 602 take up to like 1600 iso? i know it's freakin grainy, but i SHOULD help some, right?
but anyhow. i don't really know much about either. if you've got a canon slr, i would suggest going with the canon dslr, simply because your total system would interchangeable. so if you say, have a faster lens for your eos...
personally, i've taken a look or two at the fuji you have just because it has a good range of shutter speeds and iso's, and it has a nikon ais f-mount.

| I have both 602 and 10D and I have to say that when you buy 10D you get so much more for your money. I say: buy D30 |
