My God, I've never seen so much repressed male sexuality in one challenge! LOL
08/27/2003 09:01:16 AM · #2
Repressed is the word! I hadn't even thought about that perspective until my submission was posted.
08/27/2003 09:07:57 AM · #3
My submission had nothing to do with male sexuality
maybe thats the reason for the low scores:o

OK,, I've not seen one of those on here before would be nice for a change! NOT

I'm going to be dreaming of sockets and wrenches for days I just know it! Not to mention hammers....

There are some very interesting shots though. Just did my first run through. Now to start commenting..

This was my first challenge submission, so what would you consider dismal? Is the average all that I can see until the voting is done?

I believe paid members can see scores breakup on demand...

As to what I would consider dismal - well some time ago it was fashionable to be "not satisfied", wait a min! it still is ;)

Old timers will say that anything above 5 is a score to be happy with for first entry. I personally don't care this is a great place to learn and pick up occasional flame wars....

Yes, that's all you can see for now 'til it's over with. Mine is kinda boring but I submitted it to see what other's might to do with it (if anything) to make it a better photo.

This might just be a low scoring challenge. Ppl get tired of looking at the same things over and over. I, for one, didn't enter because I didn't find the topic very motivating. Therefore, I don't feel bad about not voting on it. All those ** and ** (don't wanna knock anyone's entry even though they are mostly all the same).... torture!

Fair enough,, but,,, what about the people that really took some effort to find a different subject, or unique way to look at a common object. There are quite a few moving shots with great impact... pun intended... but a true statement.

Don't punish those that entered really good images by being put off by the less artistic or interesting ones.

I cannot figure out how to see a breakout, but I'm at 5.1579 with 57 votes. I never realized how painful this is for the submitters. That "update stats" button is getting a lot of use this morning.

I didn't even bother participating, as I couldn't find what I wanted to take a picture of, but I think the tools challenge has some extremely strong participants in it.

May the best win, or something

This is actually my first real effort into a challenge in more than a month. I entered the Garden challenge but didn't really put much effort. I took a little break because that "Update Stats" had total control of me and I'm realizing now that's it's no different after the break. But at least I'm socring pretty well despite submitting a picture that I predicted would score in the 4's.

i actually had to miss this challenge due to work out of town...but I've started to judge these pics, and i'm very happy w/ what i've seen so far...I'm impressed with the creativity and the compositions of the shots. I expected 200 pics of hammers and screwdrivers...but not so far...and the ones that are there are very well done. I'm having more fun judging this one than the seasonal one. Good work to everyone!

I think I managed to submit my first "love it or hate it" photo.

I've already got a bunch of comments all pretty positive. But my score is the lowest I've had yet.

Here is a idea nobody used:

take a photo of a tie and title it "Businessman's tool"

this picture could be in the "Tools" challenge as well :)
//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=30002

I had the Tie idea but I went with a completely different idea :)

After voting on every image in the Tools challenge, I must admit that I found the lot rather boring and uninspiring. There were no real "WOW" images. I am glad it is over.

As one who has a definite non wow in the challenge I would beg to differ. I found many entries to be exciting, thought-provoking, laugh-provoking and originality abounded. My congrats to all of those. Anne

I'm asking this as someone in a learning curve, I'd like to see what your idea of non-boring, inspiring and wow is. Could you attach a few examples?
