Piet Hein, the Danish philosopher and mathematician, said:

There is one art,
no more, no less:
to do all things
with artlessness.

That's like trying to define "perfection"
05/26/2006 04:02:23 PM · #6
No way, that's easy:

something that is perfect.

"When a secured creditor has taken the required steps to perfect his lien, the lien is senior to any liens that arise after perfection. A deed of trust is perfected upon execution and delivery of the Deed to the Buyer; filing a financing statement with the secretary of state perfects a lien in personal property. An unperfected lien is valid between the debtor and the secured creditor, but may be behind liens created later in time, but perfected earlier than the lien in question. ..."

I agree with this, but I also think that it should be aesthetically pleasing to at least someone (creator included), and the emotion could be anything, including anger or disgust.

When you take a great picture and nobody else likes it, that's art!

art and beauty are two separate things. Sometimes they coexist, sometimes not. the same is true of art and emotion.

art is the connection of the finite to the infinite.

I like that Joey.

That's the problem with it. It wants to be liked.

Joey needs to join me in my trance.

Yeah, good point Joey. Defining art is like asking where the end of the universe is and what is beyond that... Our human brains cannot comprehend it, or we'd go mad. actually, that might just be what has happened to some people.. hmm...

Good lord... does that mean we now have to refer to our kids as "Art"?

05/26/2006 10:56:08 PM · #24
Simply....

Art is a Form of Communication.

Communication is a way to translate an idea between people. This can be done by using any of the sences people have, sight, sound, taste, touch, or a combination of such.

Art, is subjective, meaning, there is no defiant way to say what is or is not art. Since communication can be made in so many differnt aspects, art is also all these aspects.
