Hi,

I a realtively new photographer and have been experimenting with my Canon 350D and a basic lens. I want to buy a telphoto lens. Any recommendations, suggestions??

What price range are you looking at and what type of length do you want? do you want it to have a big range or just a long reach? there are many options and prices can vary a whole lot.

Yup yup, what Elvis said. There is no ONE right answer, it depends on what you plan to use the lens for and how much your willing to spend.

Budget??

What do you want to photograph with it?

I am willing to spend around ~300$. What I am looking for is a decent range. I can upgrade to a better and pricier one after 6 months.
What would be good option?
How are Sigma lenses, quality-wise?

For under $300 the Sigma 70-300 APG DG is probably your best bet.

Really nice lens for about $200. I've got two Canon L telephotos and still use mine in certain situations.
