I am just asking for clarification.

Are we allowed to put our copyright and name IN our challenge entries as a sticker or something that is IN the photo ??

Are we allowed to advertise our web site IN our challenge entries??

Can we put the Title of the photo IN our challenge entries such as a card on a holder in the corner??

I know we cant add them after the photo is taken as many people have been dqed for it...

Just wanted clarification.

You probably could introduce a card with your details into the corner of your shot (ie without any post processing). However, you would risk a low score (IMO) both because the copyright info would be difficult to include subtly and well, and because people react badly to the anonymity rules being broken.

Most people rely on the copyright disclaimer included on every page within the DPC website. If your images are so valuable that you think that someone is likely to use your image without your permission and you are going to suffer financially as a consequence, then you should think twice before posting it on DPC (and probably the internet as a whole).

Your subject can be anything that does not violate the TOS (which mainly excludes minors with drugs and sex), but anything that is added that obviously does not add to the photographic value of the image will be voted down. Just look thru a few challenges and start counting the number of times someone says something about distractions.

Anything done in camera is legal, so any copyright notice added by the camera is within the rules, this includes the above examples of placing cards and such in the frame to be photographed. It should also includes any text the camera puts on the image, so if you camera allows you to add a copyright notice to the image itself in-camera you should be fine. But be prepared to submit to validation requests for every image you enter and for the hit in score it will cost the image.

But I will second the advice given above, if you are that worried about image theft, it would be best to not post the image on the web in any form.

It's not not anymore "illegal" than having the title of a book showing in a photograph. BUT, I am afraid if it starts happening a lot, we will wish it were [illegal].

Copywrite I can sortof understand. Advertising your site or business (presumably photography or related) to other photographers probably isn't a real grand scheme in the big picture.
