Has anyone heard of the Tc-16a Af Tele Convertor?

Has anyone used one themselves?

I would like to use it on my MF 55mm 2.8. Does anyone know if it would meter? I don't really care it the AF would work.. infact I'm pretty sure it won't work on my Fuji S-1 (Based on the N60 body).

Any first hand wisdom?

Ok, I think I might be able to ask this question a little more specifically, here goes:

If I have a Manual Focus Nikkor lens mounted on a TC-16a Teleconverter will it autofocus and/ or meter on an N60?

The compatability data on mir ( //mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/nikonfmount/f5compatchart.htm ) is only realated to the F5 and my N60 is not exactly the same camera.

Any hints would be appreciated! Thanks!

I used to use one with an F90x and a 300m f/4.5 and it worked well with that combo. I don't have any first hand knowledge with an N60 but I did find this on a quick Google search at //oswegophoto.home.comcast.net/TC16A/index.html .

" ..... A Nikon TC-16A 1.6x AF Teleconverter lens. No reserve. This lens can be used for most of the Nikon auto-focus mount cameras ( except N4004/F-401, N4004s/F-401s, N5005/F-401x, N6006/F-601m, N50/F50, N55/F55, N60/F60, N65/F65, N70/F70, or N80/F80 these will not work ). The Nikon TC-16A Teleconverter will allow you to use manual focus Nikon lenses only as auto-focus lenses on your AF body. The converter is intended to be used with lenses of 300mm or shorter. It magnifies the image 1.6 times...."

Henry's is a large Canadian photo dealer and I would imagine that their info would be trustworthy.

Eric, So it did AF pretty well (in its own way), but did it meter acurately or at all on your F90x?

I always used it on Aperture priority and it metered fine. The AF was fairly fast, but of course limited. You prefocus on roughly the spot you want and then it fine tunes it. I used it largely for baseball shots and it worked very well for things like shooting the pitcher or batter and other fairly static subjects. With the limited AF I doubt it would be very good for tracking faster moving subjects.
