I shoot pro video on a freelance basis throughout the year. About twice a year I get approached to do plays for a local kids theater. It's a non-profit, and I have recently agreed to do it without upfront charge, as long as I can sell the copies direct to the families.

It went off last time with mixed success -- A lot of folks didn't have the cash, and wanted to use credit card. I certainly can't accept credit cards in person (nor do I want to), and my website isn't set up to accept credit cards. When I looked into it, every conceivable carrier wanted a monthly fee and a contract. I do this gig twice a year, and probably would process twenty charges each event.

I've thought Paypal, but it's a little rough.

Any ideas for how to do this?

Any friends with a business who will accept payments on your behalf?

PayPal is your best bet. The process for setting up merchant services and in the case of the online world a payment gateway is very cumbersome.

Take the card numbers and process them later through paypal if they decline then no pics.

I'd say cash only. Give them advance notice. They should be able to come up with cash. Give them a card, with your address, and have them mail payment. Are you giving them the videos the night of the show? If not they should be able to get you cash or even a check.

What's wrong with paypal? I just started this week - you get a 'business account' (free) and then you can get the terminal access bit for $20 a month (no annual commitment, no startup fee, nothing to buy). you can take visa, mc, discover and amex, same 2.9% + 30c that any paypal thing costs. Works. The money is in your paypal account instantly.

You need the CC#, name, exp date and that 3 digit number on the back. No big deal, you just enter it online.

Ran my first card yesterday and second one today - cha ching.

Breezebrowser pro can make web galleries tied into paypal - send them to your website and they can view and choose, pay and you print and ship.
I have used BBpro to make the sites i just have to find the time to set up the shopping cart and prices.

sorry, the name //www.ViewAndChoose.com is taken - i got it yesterday!
