Hi gang, Just a quick question.

Do you find it harder to comment on a photo without a Description?
When someone shows you a photo asking for your opinion, are you only able to form an opinion only after hearing what the photographer has got to say about that photo? Would you give an honest opinion without any info whatsoever from the photographer? Would the photographer's info to you sway your opinion afterwards?

I'm curious, as I'm considering whether I should type in descriptions in my future submissions, thanks!

It irks me a bit too, especially when doing critiques. And even Langdon is guilty of it. :-P

It doesn't affect my comment or vote. But I really appreciate it when people do leave descriptions. I enjoy comparing my thoughts to the photographer's thoughts, and it is a real bonus when they explain how the shot was technically done.

Crayon, a lot of CCers will not comment on the image unless the photographer has left some kind of information on the photo. We have gotten enough complaints, that we have been considering making it a requirement if you check the box asking for a detailed crit from the CC.
Sorry I'm a couple days late on this, but thought I'd add my inside experiences to the discussion. So, the more information you supply, the better your chances of getting a more detailed crit.

For example, you were trying for a darker photo, and didn't state that. Well, the commentor goes into detail for a half hour about how you could have made the photo brighter. A waste of time for you and the commentor. However, if they know that you were TRYING for that particular look, then they could focus on something else.

Anyway, hope this helps. Again, sorry for the delayed response.

Thanks for the replies!
I'll remember to type in descriptions whenever I check the CC request box in the future :)
