I can understand if you didn't see my angles as being the strength, or are annoyed by cat pics, but honestly? |

The 10 1's fits the "bell curve" perfectly. If you look at the voting curve it's not out of line.
I gave your shot a 3, not because I don't like cats (in fact I like cats) but because the cat is the main subject of the photo when the right angle(s) is supposed to be the main subject. Most of your comments even mention that they love the cat, but it's NOT supposed to be the main subject. :) Make sense? |

Yes, I totally understand that. I just people gave more of the critical comments with the good, cause I'm sitting here going 'hmm everyone says they're giving it a 10, but the score is less than 5'. 3 makes sense... but 1 basically says there's nothing good about it. |

| I agree with ChrisW. The problem with that pic is that the right angle isn't the main subject. Otherwise it isn't bad and it's even funny! |

The main point is ,your photo rocks,I like it very much!
With 1/8 shutter,probably handheld you got perfect focus on cat's face!

I guess you can never truly know what people will like and what they won't - that being said, there should be some technical standards that people try to apply to their voting like; (1) is the image in focus; (2) is the exposure appropriate for the image; (3) does the image meet the contest guidelines; etc. Liking the image should then bump it into the 6,7,8,9,10 area.
Your image was well done technically and should not, in my opinion, have received 10 1's. It is definitely not a 1 entry. It was technically a good image with some great perspective and composition creativity. |

Two people gave my garden shot a one. //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=31177 I understand that voting is subject to individual tastes and definition of the challenge. However, ones should be reserved for extremely bad photos. I will admit my photo is not a perfect 10, but it's definitely not a one! What would they have given me if I submitted a completely empty photo? I'm starting to think that people either give ones to purposely skew the averages or they have a reversed understanding of the scale. A vote of one should require a comment stating why it's deserving of a one. |

Look your photo was a top 10 finisher and you had plenty of comments. You aint got much to complain about. People give 1s to all good photos not just yours so it evens out. Im currently on 5 for my desolation shot and many people I know love it. Thats fine as long as people tell me why. Im expecting 1s already but wont expect an answer as to why coz there probably isnt one. There will be serious reasons for serious scores like 5 but not for 1s coz its not a serious score. But its gonna happen. Live with it.

Wow.....I'm amazed you scored that low too! I'm sorry I missed this picture when I was voting, but I would have given it a 9....for all it's worth now! :)

This is a BEAUTIFUL picture, and can't imagine what someone (or two someones...which is the case) was thinking! I gave it a 9 |

I do not understand even giving a one, I guess. When I got tired commenting on all of the photos in a challenge I felt like knocking some of them out of contention all together but if you got something onto the site it is worth more than a one for me.
