Just a general question. Why do so many people wait until the very last moment to submit their entries for challenges???? It's amazing to see the submission number more than double less than 24 hours before deadline. Is everyone just hoping that they will snap off the winning image at the last minute?? I'm too busy to keep trying. I allocate one night or an afternoon to completing the topic then move on.

I do it for a number of reasons. First, generally my best time to shoot is on the weekends - and most challenges start on Sunday or Tuesday, meaning that my prime shooting time is toward the end of the challenge.

Secondly, it gives me more time to think about my choices, play with different crops, and not have to do reuploads if I should change my mind. (So far, this doesn't seem to have helped me in most cases, but I'd like to think I'm learning.)

Truthfully, it's mainly the first. That and a certain laziness that says I will get to it when I must...though I always like to have it in at least a couple hours before the challenge closes.

It's because we all forget about the challenge until the last minute. Or in my case, know that there is a challenge, but don't get off my ass to take pictures for it until it is due. Maybe that is why I don't do fantastic with my images.

You ever remember having homework due for school, and you just keep procrastinating until the last minute. It's kind of like that.

I just often don't get an idea (let alone a good one) of what I want to do right away. Probably half my submissions have been shot within a couple hours of the deadline. Tonight I was driving home at 6:30pm (western US, less than 3 hours from the deadline) looking for "desolate" looking scenes. Last week I paid for my procrastination when the server closed the door as I was getting ready to upload a right angles shot.

The good news is while shooting tonight, I got quite a few potential "negative space" shots, so it might be time to become a paid member...
