| Alright, I'm probably an idiot for having to ask this, but here goes it. When you post a picture, either in your portfolio or in a contest, does DPC gets all the rights to the photo, or do you keep them? |

Sorry if that came across as snide. It was about as sterile a response as you can get in my intent. I was not at all trying to be snide, just giving an answer to a question.
I said Almost every page because I felt that it was possible that when you thought of this question, you may have been in some place where this was not shown and didn't notice.
It was an attempt at giving the benefit of the doubt. |

This is from the user agreement. I'm not a lawyer, but I think this says that they can use any photos that you upload pretty much any way they want.
6.2 You hereby grant DPChallenge.com a nonexclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicensable (through multiple tiers) right to exercise any rights you have in the Member Information and Media, and otherwise to make use of the Member Information and Media (including publishing, disseminating, broadcasting, manipulating, reproducing, editing, translating, performing, modifying, or displaying any part of the Member Information) and/or Media alone or as part of other work in any form, media, or technology whether now new known or hereafter developed, to enable DPChallenge.com to continue the specific operation or marketing of the site. This includes, but is certainly not limited to email "newsletters."

Just from a quick read (and I'm not a lawyer either), that part of the user agreement certainly looks like it is covering their butts on the right of DPC to use the picture on their site without being liable for royalties or anything else to the photographer.
Therefore, the photography has no right to charge DPC for any form of use of their photograph.
On the other hand, I think the original question is concerning ownership of the picture. We hand our pictures to DPC to use within the context of this site and allow them to use them, but the pictures are still ours.
The pictures still belong to the photographer, and none of what happens here at DPC deprives the photographer of any rights of ownership. |

@Mick - Yeah, that's the part I read and had doubts about.
@Eschelar - I'm sorry about biting your head off then. I read the user agreement, and it probably did have that on the bottom of the page. Never read those though, they mostly say you have to agree to the terms and agreements. Again, thank you for answering so completly and promptly. |
