I think it would be much better if it was possible to receive PMs directly into the site..
have a little window pop-up when receiving a message etc.

Cheers,

I agree. I normally only check my emails a couple of times a week, yet visit dpc everyday.

It's definitely a very good idea, but lots of coding. There is one disadvantage; we could not archive the messages like an e-mail program does, so old PMs would be lost unless also e-mailed.

I think that the easiest thing to code would be something like this:
- You can choose to keep messages here or receive them via email like now
- If you choose to receive messages here, when you read them for the first time you have 2 choices: delete or email the message to yourself (can't leave it on server).

That way you don't need to make a whole messaging system or contain a lot of old messages which take up space.

I still check my email more often than I visit DPC... ( I have that popup thingie in system tray) so I would not necessarily benefit from this change. But, I wouldn't instigate revolution if it ends up being implemented.

EXCELLENT idea, if possible :)

I would be for it, especially if this was the method used for challenging photos. This way, if my photo was challenged, I wouldnt miss the 48hr timeline because I didnt check my email. (Not that my photos have ever been challenged, but just covering all the bases)

Just my opinion though...

Most forum software has a PM archiving system built in. The threaded replies with PM's like that are definitely nice (being able to reply with quote without copying and pasting). I don't imagine they would take up much space either.
