I know it is frustrating to not receive comments on your work.
I just want you all to know that I am new at the site (June) and new at digital photography and have learned so much already by just attempting to participate. Voting has been a real learning process for me but I feel very inadequate to offer comments other than to praise a photo that is clearly outstanding. As I gain confidence and learn more about the parameters I will happily share my thoughts.

Welcome to this site! :o)

I share your thoughts: Commenting and voting are not easy, especially if you're a beginner in photography. But it'll be easier with time and experience.

A picture tells a thousand words. Even if its not English.

I´m agree with you, but I can comment all the picture I want, because sometimes I know what I want to say, but I don´t know how say it...

I say commment in whatever language you like. It'll teach us all to learn more by looking up what it means!

I was just about to post the same thing. There are enough translation programs available on the Web that it shouldn't be a problem.

I don't buy into this excuse at all. If you can vote at all, you can comment. There must be some reason why you give some photos a 9 and some photos a 2. Look at these basic points and comment on the one or two things that really come to the forefront - subject in general, topic appropriateness, lighting/exposure, and if you like/dislke the picture. That will at least get you started. Read other peoples comments on other photos. If you get desperate, read the ones I've written. I think I normally leave decent comments. Commenting will help you a lot, if you let it. If you force yourself to look at every aspect of a photo, you will do the same for your own potential photos. I have found it very helpful in my pursuit of becoming a better photographer.

You don't have to go over every part of a photo point by point. Tell the photographers what you like and don't like. That's all they are after. Whats the worst you could be? Wrong? Hardly, its all about opinions and interpretations.

Don't be shy, say what's on your mind. - Bob

I find it very helpful to know what experts AND beginners think about my photos, so go ahead and chime in! It's fun!

Hey, I was afraid to comment when I first started. My suggestion is to make a few constructive critisisms and see what happens. Sometimes I see something that just doesn't look right so I simply ask the person why they did so and so, this allows them to know you noticed it and also an opportunity to tell you why they did it or even to make a decision to correct the problem in the future.
Jump in and get your feet wet! :<)

I just made myself comment on every image in the "Inside Looking Out" challenge. I apologise to anyone whose feelings I might have hurt - I make no pretense on being an expert or knowing anything so I operated from a "this works for me" perspective. I will have far greater respect for any comment I receive from now on - that is hard work. I tried to stay away from comments that were just gosh golly and to make myself inspect my reactions...interesting and instructive for me at least.
