I was just wondering how to have my profile picture show up on my forum comments. I see that some people have them, and I believe it adds to the interest of the person's comments Thanks so much! :)

You should be able to imbed your profile image in your tagline in your profile. Right click on an image you see in a forum and you'll see where they have parked the image that shows up.

It worked. . . I just took it out once I figured out how to make it work. . .

I don't think that worked Seeker

For PC: Right-click on your profile picture, go to "properties," and copy the image's URL from there (hint: it should end with .jpg).

In the space for your forum signature, paste the image's URL between [img] [/img] tags, and check the "Show Signature" box when you post your comments.

OK -- the code for that looked like this:

{img}//www.dpchallenge.com/images_profile/1031.jpg{/img}

except for using square brackets [ ] instead of the curly braces { }

It was in the box for forum signature on the Edit Preferences page.

Tags are markers generally put before and after a section of code which tells the browser to treat the text between the tags as instructions rather than text to be displayed.

Most of the tags in use here use a brief code between square brackets at the beginning of the instruction, and a similar code -- but containing a slash "/" character after the first bracket -- to end the instruction.

IMO a better idea would be having it appear in the Author column instead of the signature

That would be nice, but we have almost no control over the content of that column. Maybe "Display Profile Pic" could be made an option someday ....

IME it shouldn't take more than a few lines of code to get the picture there. Just that somebody should have the time to do it.

Anyway as a freeloader here I don't want to appear ungrateful - this is a great site :)

Congrats Christy, have fun. . .

Kavey,

I don't know if you were testing just the link to your profile shot or whether you were wanting your profile shot in your signature line. If you want your profile photo in your signature you need to add it in your signature in your preferences like you did your Konador Icon. If not then please excuse the superfulous explanation.

Nah I was just testing to see if I could include it...

I don't like to see signature lines that are too OTT - I think they tend to intrude on the messages themselves.

Can you tell me though how I would embed a thumbnail into the main body of the message which is also a link to a full size?

In a nutshell - put the url tags around the img tags.
