Shot this coyote a few days ago - right out my back door, about 50 yards out. These were shot with the Bigma lens. No tripod - just resting the lens in my hand and my hand on the deck railing.

Nice shots. That's cool that coyotes come that close to the house (well, not cool for your pets I bet).

Jon, they usually don't come in this close. This one must have been feeling pretty hungry to walk in this close, and in the open. There was some deer feed down, and that was what he seemed to be after. Although he did keep staring at the pug yard.
He's such a nice healthy looking one that I hated to have to kill him to protect my pets. Coyotes help control the population of small animals such as squirrel, chipmunk, mink, etc. He kept coming back which was making me nervous. I fired a shot over his head and he ran off - came back a couple hours later - gave him a second warning shot - and has stayed away. So at least for now he seems to have been deterred.

I am so jealous, we hear coyotes all the time, and occassionally see them run past, I never seem to get close enough, long enough to get shots. I have been really wanting to track one to a den, they should be having pups soon....

please don't kill him, if you have to get rid of him tranqulize him and send him to my yard.

I dont think the international shipping will allow that without costing you a small fortune. lol As long as he stays in the woods he is safe. I can't risk him/her eating my pugs either though - so coming up close to the pug yard would not be a safe bet for any coyote.

well technically you could eat the coyote meat...........not that I would want to. But I also don't want it eating my pets. Luckily he/she has wised up and moved on.

Beautiful pictures! And that's a wonderful looking coyote. We have a family that lives in the field across from our house. They tend to start "yipping" around midnight. Drives me nuts sometimes. Or our dog will stand out on our driveway and bark at them, which also drives me nuts. I tend to take a lot of pictures of them, because I think it's pretty cool to have them living so close... (our dog outweighs them by about 70 pounds, so I think they'll leave him alone).
Thanks for sharing the pictures!

I love those pics they are beautiful.

They are well fed, by chance pet fed high desert coyotes? We have alot of problems here with them comming in close to grab pets and run.

Very healthy looking, but i guess who knows right? We have coyote's here, ive only been able to catch 2 with my camera, one running flat out and its the only shot of him and the other was an accident, taking pictures down by the lake and noticed him in it when I got home, which was too blurry to be a good pic but it was cool, they dont usually come that clost to town. Here is a pic of the one i chased down.
