Now that the results are in, anyone want to guess how what would have been my entry would have done? I was concerned about a DQ, so I ended up entering Playtime instead.

I think you would have faired well, a bit better than average.
Here is my original train of though and I should have gone with one...my nail toy did miserably. This is a Coke C2 can.

Funny, I have a hard time getting that technique to work with my camera ... : )
Very nice shots! |

For sure they'd do better than a DQ! The first is more "abstract" but they are both "unrecognizable," which was part of the theme of the challenge. |

Geez, I wish my outtakes looked like that. Mine are so bad they go straight to the scrap heap and if I asked the voters they'd say include the one I submitted. :P

I ended up not liking it, and reshot something else the next day. |

My entry:
Had this in but pulled it, my entry is just a tighter crop of this shot (which I was going to title "A Slice of Colour"):
And thought of this photo of the CD as well with different colours showing up under the lights, but thought it was too dark.
Thanks to Aaron for the inspiraton with his shot:

Entry...
My outtakes were of different objects...
Glass stem
Light fixture
I liked the two and the posted image , so it wasn't an easy decision deciding on which one to post. Thanks for comments I got from a few of my non DPC friends, helped tip the scale a bit.

I wonder how this older entry would have fared in this challenge? Any ideas?

On the advice of my Mom, my wife, and my oldest daughter,
I submitted this.
It scored 5.122
My choice was going to be this:
Right choice? Wrong choice?
Totally out in left field?
Pack up my ball and go home? |

I like the blue one much more. Gave it a 7.
The red one is just more of a blob. I like the composition of the blue version better and the paint splat is much nicer, in shape and in texture/smoothness.
