I'm thinking about buying another camera. I'm looking at the Canon EOS 10D and Nikon D100. I was wondering what you guys thought of each one and which one do u think is better. Thanks in advance for the help.

Well the ppl that have the Nikon tell you to get a Nikon and vice versa ....

I dont know the Nikon but happen to know the Canon and I belive it is a bit cheaper.
And I am very happy with the Canon (I think..)

in a way I think this is like asking if you should get a Mac or a PC:o

I purchased a D100 in April and have been very satisfied. It took me awhile to understand many of the features and I am still learning.

I'm wondering which people like better... PCs or Macs?

How 'bout Pepsi or Coke?

Ok, I'm just being a smartass... :)

In all seriousness, I love my D100. I think a big part of this decision, for many people, hinges on whether they have other lenses from their 35mm collection they can use on the new cameras... plus price, etc.

If you have no lenses and therefore aren't biased towards one or the other then one thing to do is to go to a camera store and try both to see how they feel. Some camera stores even allow rental for a day or weekend.

Having just bought the D100 last Saturday, I can tell you my choice wasn't based upon lenses, loyalty, or cost. I based my decision upon how the camera felt in my hands. I went to the camera store and held the S2, 10D and D100. I took a bunch of test shots with like lenses and was most satisfied with the feel of the D100 in my hands and the focusing lock of the D100 over the 10D.

Both the D100 and 10D are excellent cameras... I think it boils down to how it feels to you, and how the layout of the controls compare to your current camera and how big a learning curve you feel you'll have with the D100 over the 10D.

Go pick them up, play with them... you'll know which one is right for you after you have.

Hope this helps!

Get the 28-135. It's the standard all around lens for the Canon DSLRs..

Comparison of lots of the 'standard' Canon zooms
//www.photo.net/equipment/canon/28zooms/

I went for the 24-85 personally, mainly due to the complete lack of wide angle on any of the 28-+ on a DSLR these days. 28 is almost a standard 50mm on one of those bodies.

June,
I recently bought a 10D, and with it a Canon EF 28-200mm F 3.5-5.6 USM lens. This lens runs in the high $300's, but it is every bit worth it. Only dig I have on it is it is slightly soft wide open, but it is razor sharp stopped down. On the 10D this is a 44-320mm lens. Oh, and it focuses to 1.5 ft, giving approx. 1:4 "quasi-macro" performance.

Reviews I have seen on this lens have been good and the build quality is nice. See the following link for sime pics wiht this lens at 320mm, hand-held:Canon 28-200 Pix

Note: I just realized that evidently instantlogic re-compressed my uploaded images rather obsenely, please excuse the JPG artifacts.
I also bought a Tamron 19-35mm lens to cover wide angle (works out to 30-56mm on 10D). Only lack a true macro now...
