PS CS (v.8) with Camera Raw plugin 2.4 installed won't read any RAW files taken with my 30D. It will read files taken with the 10D. Camera Raw plugin 3.3 is not compatible with PS CS (v.8). I also cannot find any support for the 30D on Adobe's plugin support page.

The only way I can open these files now is via Canon's DPP (v. 2.1) software, which is excruciatingly slow. From DPP I can then transfer to PS.

Am I missing something or do I have to live with this. Google searches on the subject have produced nothing I have been able to learn or apply.

I wondering anyone else has had to deal with this or a similar issue and how it could be resolved.

They are pretty quick with getting the new cameras covered however it will only be in version 3.x (most likely version 3.4 which will be the next one) 30D will not be supported by PS CS(v8) which is RAW 2.X. I have the same problem with my XT. I would have to upgraded to PS CS2 to get support which they only provide new camera coverage in newest version of Photoshop.

Don't worry, you'll have 30D support in 3.4 soon, but I'm in the same boat... I think you are out of luck on PS CS version.

Sorry for the bad news.... oh well... but it's been almost a year since PS CS2 has been out and I'm just waiting to see if a new version will be released so that I can get the newest....

Later

Hi try this Adobe DNG Converter this works for my rebel xt, converts my rebel xt cr2 files to dng files and photoshop cs opens them right up. No prblems at all.

Well, who knows, I might just have some bad news for you someday... ;-]
Seriously, I'm grateful to you, the thought of sending more money to Adobe, however, appears to cramp my middle finger...

Another alternative is to convert to DNG. Once converted to DNG, your current version of ACR will open the files. I don't know whether the latest DNG converter supports the 30D as yet though. Adobe does seem pretty quick on getting support in place, but is usually a bit behind the releases. In the meantime, DPP is prolly your only choice.

edit: too slow, LOL.
