I'm a bit daunted by this challenge, as I've only been taking photos for a few months, and don't have anything suitable in my collection. So it's going to be a brand new shot this week against some of the best shots other people may have taken!
How are other people finding it?

All my old photos suck so I'm going for something new too.

Very difficult for me.

I tried to get up in the future this morning, and missed it. I guess I'll have to try a different approach. :<)

I think I´m a better photographer today than I was yesterday, so I took a new one too. I´m not very fond of using an old shot if it not happens to be THAT shot. I can always see in my old pictures how I could have made them better. But not all shots can be retaken and honestly it´s not very funny to retake either. So DPC is just perfect for me. New shots every week. And I don´t like this challenges (just one so far) where we can use our old shots.

I'll be taking a new one too, though I have no idea what I'll be shooting.

All shots taken deliberately for this challenge - spent a while trawling through the archive, but in the end there were just a couple of things wrong with each one I considered.

I forgot that part about being able to enter an old pic. I think I'd rather spend time doing something new than digging through old stuff though. Can't think of anything off hand that'd work anyway. It is a rather specific topic.

Call me the oddball here, but I was really excited to be able to enter this one picture that I have for the challenge. I took it a couple of months ago, and it is my favorite picture that I have ever taken. Any time I want to show someone what I can do, I show them this picture. However, it will probably score somewhere around last place, because my pictures have a tendancy to do that on this site. Oh well, at least I like them right?

I just re-read the rules.

At first, I had no idea what to do for this challenge. I was playing in photoshop with an image I took July 21 (not too old) and came up with a great concept. I also used a photo I took in early 2003 (taking advantage of the no editing restrictions). I'm pretty excited about my entry and I think it will do well. Thinking an entry will do well typically gaurantees me a mid 5's score, so I won't hold my breath!

I'm thrilled because I got to take some really cool shots a couple of weeks ago that I wasn't able to use on here. Now I can -- and I did! This was a really fun challenge for me 'cause I use Photoshop 30+ hours/week and hate being so restricted when it comes time for a DPC entry.

Which part of the rules prohibits using two shots together? Is it in the post shot adjustments somewhere? Putting two or three different pics together is allowed in this challenge?
It'll be interesting to see how much PS work has been done on the winning entries.

So is it ok to put a couple of pictures together in one?

I am new to all of this so please bear with me. I see a number of posts talking as if we could use old shots. I thought that every submission had to be taken within the posted dates/times. Is that not true? Also, there was a photo in "right angles" challenge of a Vt. Barn in winter? How can that be ok? Anne

What is VT?
Mabey its on the north pole or something ;) if you think its not a picture from last week you should recommend a DQ for it. Its only the extra rules in the future challenge where you can use old pictures.

Nobodys nows about the thing if you can put many images in the picture?

From the challenge details:

"Challenge Details: Take a photograph that might give your viewer a glimpse of the future.
Challenge Type: Members Challenge
Extra Rules: There are NO editing restrictions and NO date restrictions for this challenge. The sections "Post-shot Adjustments" and "Exposure Date" are not will not be considered for disqualification. This is basically no-holds-barred, so make it a good one!"

Straight from the administrators...
1-NO editing restrictions
2-NO date restrictions
3-no-holds-barred

Those three items in the challenge description indicate to me anything goes. Photos taken at anytime (still must be digital, not a scan), multi image composites sound legal to me...

heida, VT=vermont

now that that simple one's answered, lemme check if I can use the forum code correctly (I'm using this post to test the hyperlink to my portfolio - I've just decided to be a *paying* member today.)

They got into the wrong challenge forum, talking about the one for 'right angle' that has the wintery barn from VT. As far as I know, all the normal date and editing restrictions are in effect for that one. I hadn't heard about any mid-summer blizzards in New England recently... 8-)
