All taken with the Tokina 12-24; used the Anvil filter from Virtual Photographer. Comments/suggestions/critiques appreciated.

Very cool Laurie.

I have a question. Are these type of "off the shelf" (or "off the internet") filters allowed in either basic or advanced? Is there a way to see what their step by step progression is? I've looked at the Fred Miranda Velvia action and the step by step appears to be legal, but the nice thing with an action like that is you can see the steps.

Laurie, these are just great ! I love them. Did you customise the Anvil filter or did you use all the default settings ? I tried it on one of my picture and it looked a little grainy.

Louise - Thank you. I just used the default settings...I like the grainy look anyway and thought it would work OK with these.

Larry - Thanks...I remember back a year or two ago there was a fairly definitive ruling that the virtual photographer filters were OK for advanced but not for basic. With most of those kinds of filters, it's not necessarily the filter itself that is the issue, it's how it's applied. If you ever have doubts about the legality, contact an SC member for some pre-entry advice. :)

What I meant Laurie was my picture looked grainy and yours doesn't. That's why I thought you used different settings.

Very nice series of photos! Wow, what a treasure chest of highly desirable collector cars, a rare site indeed. I like the variaty of angles and the high constrast look. Good work!

That car is only in slight disrepair. Here is an abandoned car.

laurielblack, I have got to ask this question, or else I will be losing sleep tonight.

I don't want to make this sound like an insult, I lived in Tennesee at one point in my life which is why I came up with this question. It is a sticking question that is just too much for me to ignore, especially since you do live in Texas.

I have got to know, just gotta know!

The question is this...

Are these cars in your front yard?

Nice pix by the way.

Laurie, these are great! I love the effect this filter brings. Wide angle bliss!

Laurie, these are Awesome!! I love every last one of them. Well done!

Edit: When I went back to mark some as favorites I realized they weren't on here. :( So just think of this as my Virtual Fave for them, K? :-)

I like the Fairlane 500 and the old Imlpala (last one) the best.

All are really well done.

Great shots !

LOL no, these aren't in my yard...but they are in SOMEONE'S yard. ;) I ran across a man who had a salvage yard on his property and asked if I could shoot a few pictures. I'm sure he thought I was insane...but I had fun anyway. The hardest part was keeping the kids out of the cars and repeating the words "Don't touch" about 47 times.

Yep...that Tokina is an awesome little piece of machinery. I think it's my favorite right now. The color, contrast, and sharpness are just unbelievable. Of course, you can't tell that with these in b/w so I'll post a few in color. I honestly don't know which I like better, the color or the b/w. :)

Thanks for the comments...any automotive suggestions as to how I can better capture size, texture, depth, and dimension with new angles or different approaches?

You have done an exceptional job with these Laurie...I wish I could find a site like this where I could spend a day with a series of lenses and go for broke...you've made me want to find one...

Where is the 'step by step' or PS plugins at fred miranda? I'm looking but haven't come across it yet.

No, I rarely enter anymore (mostly due to lack of time) and have a lot going on this year with school and the boys. I figure if some challenge comes along that I can't live without entering, I can renew for a month. I've spent way too much time online the past two years and I'm working on having a life outside the computer screen. ;)

Thanks for the comments on the photos. I appreciate every one of them. I had a lot of fun working on this series and it means a lot to me. :)

Oh, I have some pictures that my youngest two took the same day at the salvage yard and at another location...I'll post those when I get home. I might be biased, but I think they both got some really neat shots (especially for 6 and 7 year olds)!
