Does anyone know where I can find fireworks tutorials, or if anyone who has taken shots of fireworks has any advice suggestions I would really appreciate it. thanks.

I've found shooting fireworks isn't as hard as it would seem. You're best bet is to keep your camera at iso 100, focus at infinity, and shoot between 1-8 seconds. My best shots seemed to come out using 2 or 4 second shots. A tripod is definitely a must, and some recommend cable releases. I don't yet have one and was able to still obtain a bunch of great shots.

The location you are shooting from can be important for compositional issues, getting the crowds heads might be interesting, or some other foreground. I haven't tried this yet. My first two fireworks shoots are here:

I shot a bunch in NY and Montreal - I found that it depends on the show. If it's a small town show, try 4 second exposures focused on infinity (or use "landscape mode" if your cam has a quick setting). For a really fast, "performance" show, I'd go with about a 1/10 or even 1/20 and rapid fire burst mode, whatever you have to get just as many possible shots as you can and save the ones that come out. :)

Good luck. It's fun AND frustrating.

There was a thread about a week before the 4th that was very helpful.
It had several links to tutorials. I was able to shoot some very nice photos using their recommendations. You might want to back track and find it. Sorry, I'm not more helpful. I have a heck of a time finding threads...
I used 100 iso for about 2 and a half seconds at F8. (I have a couple in my portfolio.) I was all set up with the tripod and a storm came in and I had to run into the dugout and shoot from there trying to rest my arm on the wall to keep my camera steady. Also, they were low and not high like I'd anticipated. I had no time to experiment with settings like I wanted to because they were all set off within 8 minutes!
I was glad I'd read the tutorials. Good luck. It'll be fun!
