I finally ran out and got some In the Garden shots today (since we don't have a garden). I got this image prepped and ready to dubmit just 12 minutes before the deadline. I came to DPChallenge and went to submit, only to see the 'no flowers for mainsubjects' side rule!! Yikes...
I quickly went through about 450 shots I've taken this week to find a shot that fits the challenge. I prepped it and went to uplaod it... right in the middle of my upload, the screen went to the 'down for calculating results' or whatever it says. Arrrggghhh! I couldn't believe it. When the site came back up, my photo was in the challenge!! That has to be a record for latest submission prior to the deadline!!!
Anyway, here is the shot I had wanted to use:

Amazing shot! It's too bad there's not challenge to submit this to, I'm sure it would do great!

Love the color and use of dof. Very nice macro. Good luck on your second choice submission!

I tried to submit late like that for Blue and for Transportation. Both times I was unsuccessful. You're very fortunate you got your picture submitted. But then again, that's my luck.

Good Luck with your second choice. - Bob

Judging by my current In The Garden score I was unlucky[ to have submitted on time! Oh - the price of creativity. ;)

Breathtaking! Beautifully executed. I'm so happy you posted it here so that I could appreciate it.

Very pretty shot.

This is the one I didn't submit because I thought it had too many flowers in it...

I wonder if it would have done poorly.

The challenge was not to have flowers as the main focus. I think this would have been highly rated - it's clear, crisp and a quite amazing critter. Very good.

Great macro flower shot, and an equally great caterpillar! I wish i had critters in my garden that cool.

Photographers note: When putting bugs in the fridge to slow them down a bit make sure you don't get distracted and leave them for half an hour....'cause they be dead when you get 'em out!!! Oops, my bad :)

I am really sorry that you didn't enter this one. It is a 10 in my eyes and I think it met the challenge very nicely. Good luck with your second choice.

Great shot Smellyfish.
Kawamama you should have submitted the catepillar. It's really good. The heck with all the nitpickers.

This would have been my image if we were allowed flower shots:

I'm sure that this shot would have done very, very well. Certainly better than Jon Lucas's one ; )

You're so right, if not a little presumptious! ;)

I was just joking. After reading your other posts, I thought you might enjoy the humour. ; )

This is the one I decided not to submit. I stumbled upon something better before supper Tuesday.

I've made a vow to quit procrastinating, and one of these days I'll get around to doing just that, eventually.

This was one I thought about submitting. Since I didn't, the post-processing is a rush job just to show what I was thinking of doing...

Here is one I took a couple of years ago. Isn't it funny how people have different visions? I like yours better, btw.
