I, uh, accidentally cut my hair, and accidentally ended up taking off about six inches too much. I've had long hair for years and i loved it. Short hair does not suit me. I want to never leave my room again.

Any suggestions from you artistic people that might save my life?

Hunny, how the ?@#$ do you cut your hair by accident ... oh well ...

My fix .. see a hairdresser and see what you can salvage .. at least to get a good cut :)

Been there done that .. but only cos my sister said it was ok to sleeep with chewing gum in my mouth .. you can tell I was young!

How do you cut your hair by accident?

Wear a baseball hat and call it good.

Well, I was just holding the scissors in front of the mirror, and I--I mean THEY--became overcome with the moment, and just started cutting! And by the time I (they) did that first little snip, I (THEY!!!) awoke from the awful trance, but it was too late by then, and my hair was on the floor, so I had to continue it all the way around my head. I mean teh scissors did. Not me.

Maybe some of the talented folks in thread can help you.

I second the hairdresser. Put the scissors down and seek professional help. :-) Good luck!

I was only holding the scissors because I can't afford a hairdresser. I'm a poor university studeny living with poverty, famine, and bad hair.

I was hoping no one would ask. It's so very painful...but perhaps necessary.

I cut my own hair all the time. The first couple times I messed up and it was embarrassing, but then I got the hang of it. Don't sweat it. See if one of your friends/collegemates can even it out for you if it's unbalanced. From your profile photo it looks like you have straight pretty hair. It shouldn't be too hard to fix it. It might feel awkward to you since you've always had long hair.

lol, call me crazy but I can't see much difference. Looks good to me.

Here i thought you had issues .. just get someone to check evenness - you look fine (even great compared to lots).

Ah, itll grow back before ya know it. I think id make that face too if i cut my six inches of my hair. Id be bald:( Now that might not look so good on ya :P Trust me on this tho, it really doesnt looks so bad.

Hair tends to take a really long time to grow once it gets longer (especially mine), so it took me almost two years to grow those six inches. TWO YEARS!!! There is not enough in my room to occupy me for that amount of time.

Scrunch it up in a ball and stick it under a hat and walk out with your chin up. If anyone gives you a hard time, kick 'em in the shins and make that face at 'em.

Seriously, you got plenty of hair left there to work with. Don't sweat it. Relax. Take a deep breath. This, too, shall pass...

Almost cut my hair
It happened just the other day
It's gettin kinda long
I coulda said it wasn't in my way
But I didn't and I wonder why
I feel like letting my freak flag fly
Cause I feel like I owe it to someone

Must be because I had the flu' for Christmas
And I'm not feeling up to par
It increases my paranoia
Like looking at my mirror and seeing a police car
But I'm not giving in an inch to fear
Cause I missed myself this year
I feel like I owe it to someone

When I finally get myself together
I'm going to get down in that sunny southern weather
And I find a place inside to laugh
Separate the wheat from the chaff
I feel like I owe it to someone.

20 years old, hair is six inches shorter than the previous 18-20". Yep, life is over, no question. *calls Dr. Kavorkian*

03/04/2006 03:05:12 AM · #20
I've met Nick he certainly could use the 6in easy :)
03/04/2006 03:12:31 AM · #21
are you being just a bit over-dramatic here?

03/04/2006 03:27:55 AM · #22
Honestly Shutterpug I am not ... Nick could really use the 6 inches of hear ... he don't have much at all.
03/04/2006 04:45:33 AM · #23
Actually, I think it looks better now... fuller instead of sorta just hanging there. In the two pics it looks more like 3-4 inches than 6.
Hair grows an average of half an inch a month, so that's only a year to wait, not including trims to even it :) It just SEEMS like it slows down because it's a smaller percentage of the total length.
03/04/2006 05:03:05 AM · #24
Truth be told, the before looks like it was in need of a trim to get it under control. If you don't like how it looks now, find a stylist and have them fix it. Just make sure and find a good one or you could end up with noticably less hair.

I think it looks good. I'd suggest waiting a week before making any rash decisions. You will find it'll grow on you. (no pun intended)
